It was the 21stof December 2012, when Expander, the label owner of Soniculture and Thinkfreak, one of our most valuable talents, decided that the best way to deal with the end of the world would be through one last EP. The one that would make the angels dance with joy and the humans have a soundtrack to listen to on their way to the next life. They sat down and produced this 3-tracker that speaks about the phenomena that was about to come and our future in the stars. It all begins in an apocalyptic fashion where we prepare for the darkness and the march to our destiny, employing our energies and raising our arms jumping around like we used to when we were still chimpanzees. They then stopped and thought a little about Eschatology, the part of physics and futurology concerned with what are believed to be the final events of history, the ultimate destiny of humanity. So, they closed their eyes, meditated and travelled within their inner selves, at the same time transmitting output to the sequencer in front of them. Finally, a message of hope for the world to come that is out there waiting for us and shall be ruled by the holy laws of techno, forever and ever. Well, the world didnt end after all and we need to stay here for the meantime, so we decided to release the EP anyway. This also means that we will have more releases, within this sphere that we live in, in the future. So be prepared for more! Amen. Thinkfreak is José Mário Varela. Born in Ílhavo (Portugal), he has been releasing by Soniculture since 2006, year in which he debuted as a producer. Since then, he has about 10 editions and it is expected the release of a new EP and album in 2015.
His productions propel from an intense search for new sounds that balance between harmonic elements and games of contrasts. Thinkfreak bets on an introspective relationship that, by experimentation, searches for the link between elements of sound and mental landscapes built by the environment surrounding him. The result is the darker side of techno with progressive and minimal influences, alternated with moments of a delighted emotional release, leading the public to feel high contrasting states of euphoria and introspection.

In Portugal, Thinkfreak highlights by his live performances in clubs such as Lux Fragil, Gare Porto and Clubbing - Casa Da Música . Festival Forte is among the many music festivals he has played in.
