Over the past couple of years, the workrate of Casement (@casement) has been unmatched. The Glaswegian producer/DJ has flipped everything from Drill and Grime staples, to Reggae and Soul classics, and 2000’s Rap and RnB. No tune is safe from this man’s signature sound! 

This applies to his original productions as well, with a diverse range of releases on Hotel Radio Paris, 1Forty, and NICE UP! Records. Casement has gifted us ‘Cloudspeed’, a 4 minute hard-hitting cocktail of breaks and bass that’s been blessed by his inimitable touch.

It’s hard to pinpoint Boorloo boy R15+’s (@turn2jelly)  ‘FEEL U’ down to a specific genre. Elements of Acid House, Big Beat and Bass appear throughout, but the beauty of the track is in it’s flexibility. Conceptualised in 2018, the track is still as fresh as ever, reflecting the cross-pollination of styles in today’s dance music landscape. 

Rugged basslines, compressed breakbeats and synthesiser-generated loops crescendo into an infectious construction that captures the contemporary intermingling and intersecting of genres in today’s club culture.

For the fourth track in the compilation Nora Zion (@norazion1) delivers ‘They Don’t Know’, an ode to the Chicago Footwork scene and producers like DJ Rashad and DJ Spinn. 

At 160 BPM, the track allows her to seamlessly flow between the hyper rhythmic shapes and offbeat drum machine patterns of the genre and the halftime, soulful R&B stylings of her own vocals, a liminal space in which she feels most comfortable.

Nora Zion - They Don't Know

Producing and DJing for the better part of a decade, Crush Mood Trax (@nebula1) is a true veteran of the Perth scene, whose style is influenced by a wide range of underground club sounds from Grime to Juke. 

Originally recorded in North Perth during lockdown, ‘Butler Ave’ is inspired by the emerging US East Coast club sound from producers like DJ SWISHA, Kush Jones and OSSX, which draws on the legacy of genres from the region like Jersey and Baltimore Club, and Chicago’s Footwork and Ghetto House. Aggressive kick patterns, hypnotic keys and fragmented vocal stabs combine to concoct a frenetic, yet melodic club banger.

Having originally recorded this track back in 2018, Perth’s ever elusive RESY has blessed us with the opportunity to release the much-anticipated “Skin Tight”. Sampling a timeless Afrobeats classic, RESY expertly layers chopped up vocals with a rolling breakbeat, punctuated with emotive piano chord stabs, that craft a truly meditative dance-floor filler that packs a serious punch. 

Although this is his first label release, RESY is sitting on a huge catalogue of unreleased music of equal calibre. Stay tuned for big movements from him in 2022.

RESY - Skin Tight

With a string of releases on Trax Haven, Wile Out and Kiwis and Coconuts, Sheffield based producer/DJ Sterlo (@sterlouk) serves up the first track on the HAZMAT compilation. 

True to its name, ‘Sunblush’ is a track that simultaneously feels at home at a warehouse rave sunrise set or a Sunday shindig at the park on a warm summer afternoon. His unique percussive prowess is evident throughout this track, employing rapid syncopated drum breaks reminiscent of mid 90’s Jungle, whilst deep atmospheric melodies straight out of a Y2K-era video game, complete this track’s nostalgic feel.
