Percebes starts 2021 by releasing the label honcho’s brand new “Gestures Of Release” LP. It’s an offering of tracks that reflect the producer’s unique take on languages he knows well, whilst retaining a unique sense of coherence.

Guests include portuguese electro-funk band Thunder & Co, local junglist producer AL:X, fellow Percebes founder Hélder Russo and Chicago House new school gold medalist Andrew “Change Request” Emil. The quality of production and engineering is second to none on an LP that sounds as close to a maxi single as physically possible! There's much that a DJ can use on both dance floors and cooler settings alike, but also, an album that a music lover can enjoy on a proper turntable. Quoting Vito Corleone, it’s “an offer you can’t refuse”.

There’s deep, crunchy disco house (“Miles Away”), dreamy downtempo (“Suave”) and mellow freestyle funk (“Membrana”). Of course there are also plenty of irresistible bumping dance floor moments of classic inspiration (“Gestures Of Release”, “Clone Forge” and the bass heavy “Time Apart”).

Vinyl comes with digital a download code redeemable on the label’s site, includes full-length album with four more tracks. Overall, great bang-for-the-buck pack full of future classics, as usual with Percebes so far.

'Intimacy' is the debut full-length from Leeds-based twin producers, @sah-music, released via @reellongoverdub. Exploring various intensities and incarnations of closeness, it will help us process and exorcise our shared experience of isolation and distance.

In their own words: “This album is a collection of sounds and feelings based on our own personal meditations over the concept of true intimacy. Whether the intimacy is an attempt to become closer to a lover, a friend or some form of higher power many of us seek true intimacy within every single breath of existence”.

The eight tracks draw inspiration from the diversity of global religions, making references to African spirituals, American Gospel, Spiritual Jazz and Islamic Folk. It aims to “create a transcendent listening experience” that breaks free from dogma and organisation to embrace a higher, more holistic form of spirituality – a power that it is hoped will serve as a positive force in fragmented, depressive times.

@ara_u announces a new electro compilation on his label No Static / Automatic. Titled 'The Exiled', the album showcases the sound of artists he grew up with in his local scene in Venezuela and also sets out to raise money to support the local community.

'The Exiled' brings together a new generation of exiled artists who left the country for economic and political reasons. The act of working with them on the release also strives to keep them connected and bring a creative sense of joy to their home country. All proceeds from the release will be donated to Santa Cruz De Mara which supports elderly people living in poverty and struggling to survive with accommodation and food.

Now the newly launched Brazillian record label Troop have announced an EP with reworked versions by Fred P, Ney Faustini and more. It's Ney Faustini's track which caught our ear with a deep cut for the discerning dancefloor.
