NOVEMBER 9, 2022 - ALT ELECTRONIC NATION W/COOLMOWEE (SHOW No. 30)

The Night Before Christmas is a collaboration with https://soundcloud.com/kiffie8 and a charity record, which all of the earnings will go to the Help The Homeless charity,  A cause close to their hearts. Lyrically it’s about missing our loved ones at Christmas. In Jamie’s case he lost someone special last-year on Christmas Eve, and it’s his tradition to put their photo in a glass bauble on his tree, Jamie says unfortunately I’ve got quite a few lost angels on my tree now! Music wise it’s set to a very jolly electro/synth pop beat with a nod to New Order’s Blue Monday and (dare I say it) early noughties Coldplay! 

They would really appreciated it if you could encourage your listeners to buy it on Bandcamp if possible and if you could share the link that would be amazing! They really do want to make as much money for ‘Help The Homeless’ as they can!

The Overall Immobility of Things

I set out to lighten my playing style by learning the Lydian mode.  I created a piano backing track to practice against, plugged in my guitar, and played the opening lead note-for-note the first time through; I guess it had been developing subconsciously as I worked with the piano.  I listened back and immediately got sidetracked with developing additional sections, finalizing the arrangement, and producing Awakening.  

I'm going to avoid getting overly dramatic about why I named it Awakening but to bookend the idea:  the first section reminds me of waking up, stretching and getting started; while in the final section, you're making your way down the road to whatever adventure awaits.
