Following on from Hector Couto’s ‘Parental Advisory’ EP, which touched down on Roush in March, DJ.T, Ralph Lawson and Rui-Z make their way to the label this October to deliver two fresh, impressive remixes.

Known as one of the most respected artists within house, Hector Couto has gone on to set a remarkable standard since his production debut in 2008, with notable releases on the likes of Hot Creations, Get Physical, Moon Harbour to name just a few. Here we see formidable Berlin based DJ / producer DJ.T, 20/20 boss Ralph Lawson and emerging talent Rui-Z welcomed to the imprint to put their own stamps on two of Couto’s original cuts.

Our Debut Transmission today is the interpretation from Ralph Lawson & Rui-Z  which retains the bubbling make up of Couto’s ‘Like This’, whilst introducing a bumping low-end, shuffling hats and rugged kicks to reveal a track aimed firmly at the dancefloor. Hector Couto ‘Parental Advisory (The Remixes)’ drops on Roush on 31st October 2016.

Next up on Davide Squillace's label This And That Lab is the fourth in their “Spring Summer Fall Winter” series, which features styles ranging from dark and trippy minimal to jackin house, including tracks from Italoboyz, Durant, Allen(IT), Atsou and Isa Rojas.

Planning to release one edition for each season of the year, there is a focus on textures both audible and visual where each release will be a combination of fresh talents with veteran artists.

First of the four tracks on the EP is from Italian duo Italoboyz featuring Durant. Along with a recent EP on This And That, they have also contributed music to other imprints such as Crosstown Rebels, VIVa MUSiC and their own Superfiction Recordings. Opening the EP in style, their dark and stripped back track “Autobahn” has rubbery synths and trippy vocals amidst other ambient textures.

Second on the EP is Allen(IT) who's another artist to have previously featured on This And That Lab. He has also worked with other noteworthy labels including Snatch!, Stereo Productions and Flashmob Records. His track on this EP titled “One Day In 84's” has an old-school style fitting for the title. With chunky percussion and a brooding bassline its jacking style takes direct influence from the classic Chicago house sound.

Track three is a This and That debut from Greek artist Atsou who prior to this had showcased his talents via a mixed artist EP on the highly acclaimed Kindisch label. With snare rolls, tribal chants and vibrant percussive textures forming the foundation of his track “Sylvie”, its defining element is the bending tone of the sweeping pad that brings it to life with charismatic style.

Completing the EP is a track by the emerging Isa Rojas called “Whale Dance”, which is deeply sensual with hypnotic melodies and murky pads that fully submerge you in the tracks eloquence. Steadily building in momentum the percussion heightens the intensity as more sounds are gradually introduced like an ocean wave picking up floating debris as it approached the sea shore.

Davide is not available for comment. He’s got to catch a flight; he’s rushing to the studio; the stage manager is frantically hurrying him into the booth; he’s meeting to discuss plans for his labels…or any of the other myriad reasons why Davide feels like he hasn’t slept, eaten or stopped running for what seems like his whole life.

Born in Siena, raised in Naples, it took a trip to London for Davide to finally discover electronic music. Wooed by the mood and sound of the British scene, he returned to Naples flush with energy, excitement and a knowing that this new calling would consume him. 

Davide immersed himself in this world in every conceivable way. In 1999 he began studying at the Naples’ school of sound engineering, tinkering with his first productions, promoting techno events, and finally performing. His first releases on Primate Records, Design Music andConform were a cadence of his arrival and showcased the young artist’s steadfast style.

Having honed his craft at home, in 2004 Davide left Naples for Barcelona unwavering in his resolve. Now, while touring around the continent, he began to release in earnest what would become a massive body of work, and at a dizzying pace. His productions have graced the catalogs of some of the finest labels including Ovum, Sci+Tec, Morris Audio, Resopal Schallware, Supernature, CMYK, Adagio, Viva, Nervous, Saved, Shake, Rillis; the list goes on… 

Added to that, you have to take into account the labels which Davide founded and still curatestoday – Sketch, Minisketch, Vir, 500, Titbit and Hideout. 2012 sees the start of Davide’s latest innovative project. This and That Lab will be a unique fusion of label and think tank combining music, art and culture used as a platform for Davide and other like minded artists to develop creative projects in music, visual art, design, fashion and writing.

In addition to his genre-defining works, Davide continues to inspire and ignite dancefloors worldwide. Whether it be at Circoloco, where he has been a resident since 2007, Womb, Berghain, D.Edge, or any other marquee venue, Davide plays with an unequalled funk and excitement. His signature sets, revered by the masses and peers alike, do a double duty in guarding our much-loved traditions while constantly pushing them forward.

The realm of possibilities for one of electronic music’s leading lights is endless. Unfortunately, the minutes in the day are not. Davide’s answer is simple – do what you love and make no compromises.
