Brazil’s Volkoder releases the ‘Prospective’ EP on Lee Foss’ Repopulate Mars, featuring 3 solid house

tracks.

Having appeared on the likes of Material, Snatch!, Kittball and Suara, Marcos Benedetti’s talent as a

producer is indisputable - even been tapped to remix the likes of Kerri Chandler and Guy Gerber. It’s

therefore unsurprising that Volkoder’s productions have frequented the sets of Jamie Jones, Catz n’ Dogz

and Tube & Berger, not to mention Lee Foss who’s now inducting him into his Repopulate Mars roster.

‘Prospective’ immediately builds the energy levels with a popping bass, intoxicating vocals and consuming

drum arrangements before ‘For Me’ opens up to echoing soundscapes and emotive vox edits, making it a

tune impossible to stand still to. Finally, ‘Fools’ introduces fragmented percussion above a high-octane,

pulsating bass line as clanging claps and a looped voice keep listeners locked in.

We reach our 165th reference with another warm welcome. Arriving from the south of France, Chi-cks Luv Us have been editing hip-hop influenced tech-house since 2012. From then until now they have collected a bunch of great releases that define their actual sound via top labels such as Desolat, CUFF or Sanity to name a few. ‘You Get No Love’ opens with few but selected elements like the sharp hi hat and the prominent sub bass. The wide kick and the bassline match perfectly and they define very nicely the low end of the track that will shake any soundsystem. An infectious vocal loop in certain parts of the track gives an extra to this energy-fueled cut. As b-side ‘RDS’ keeps the energy high with the pitched toms acting as bassline and giving a kind of tribal feeling. Then an addictive vocal cut is added to keep the liste-ners hooked.
