Marcellus makes his Hottrax debut this May with ‘Reeces Pieces’.
 
London-born DJ & producer Marcellus had had a bountiful 12 months, dropping flavours across Elrow, Relief and Deeperfect, grabbing the attention of Dennis Cruz, Michael Bibi and Jamie Jones. Now, the UK talents’ beats have landed on Jones’ Hottrax for the first time in the shape of his weighty four-track EP ‘Reeces Pieces’. 

Ghostly pads float over snaking percussion in the fibrous lead track ‘Reeces Pieces’ as male and female vocals battle it out over a brooding bassline, before ‘Reputation' brings the funk with slappy strings, jazzy motifs and deep tones. Next, ‘Wild’ takes no prisoners with pounding low-ends and sassy, loopy lyrics alongside twisted samples, ahead of the swung ‘closing track‘ ‘2003’, harnessing convulsing synths and crescendoing drumrolls as a fitting finale for this dancefloor-ready EP.

Paco Osuna's record label Mindshake drops a stripped back and techy release by house producer Blackchild. Along with the two originals, the EP also features a stunning tech house remix by Paco Osuna.

Blackchild is an Italian artist based in the UK who is known for his DJ sets at places like DC10 in Ibiza, along with top-selling releases on influential record labels including the likes of Jamie Jones' Hot Creations.

Many know Blackchild for his links to the highly respected Solid Grooves, as he is both a regular on their record label and a resident at their events.
Mindshake label boss, Paco Osuna is one of Spain's most Iconic DJs who has headlined prestigious clubs and festivals across the world. His flowing percussive style switches between house and techno, plus he has featured tracks and remixes on iconic imprints ranging from Richie Hawtin's Minus to John Digweed's Bedrock.
The original mix of "Disco Era" opens the release with its funky bassline, disco inspired strings and soothing vocal samples that are nestled on a bed of techy percussion. Paco Osuna's remix of Disco Era focuses on the percussive elements with its additional drum sounds and fast-paced rhythms. "Transformation" closes out the release with its tribal groove and hip hop vocals.

Soul Clap return with a disco infused tribute to New York nightlife ‘Ready To Freak’, featuring the legendary Kathy Brown on vocals. This Billboard charting vocalist was known for her 90’s number one single ‘Turn Me Out’.

‘Ready To Freak’ is the US based duo’s latest excursion on their eponymous Soul Clap Records since their collaboration with Funkadelic and features four versions to suit any discerning dancefloor, boombox or Walkman!

 

The ‘Disco Mix’ lives up to its name, edited and arranged with Morgan Wiley (Midnight Magic, Hercules & Love Affair).  It takes the melodies and basslines of the original demo and loads them up with Wiley's keyboard wizardry over live drums.  On the ‘Disco Dub’ Soul Clap’s Eli aka Bamboozle and Wiley flip the groove with a Roland RX7 drum machine for that 80’s proto-house feel.  On the B-side, Soul Clap’s Charlie aka Lonely C pulls out all the stops for a pumped up piece of floor shaking house music on his ‘Club Electronique’.   Lonely C’s ‘Dub Electronique’ makes things  DJ friendly with a bass driven drum work out that’s already had massive reactions during their DJ sets.
