Doodle Mix Series #47 Simba

Number 49 in the series and it embodies the spirit of the series perfectly.

Paul Blandford has deep roots in the scene in South Wales and has made considerable contributions as a DJ, promoter, label boss and producer. 
He's had residencies at the famous Sumo in Cardiff and Sonic in Lab Bristol and played alongside Joy Orbison, Timo Maas, Max Cooper, Justin Robertson, Xpress-2 and Slam.
In addition, his Perc club night in Newport has been running for over a decade as has his label, Death Proof Recordings.
As a producer, he's definitely earned his stripes - Robert Hood and Kevin Saunderson, both  championed his whitelabel remix of Inner City’s ‘Good Life’ globally at the likes of Dekmantel, Movement (Detroit) and most notably in Floorplan’s BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix.

Doodle Mix Series # 51 - Brennan

Number 53 in the series is from Dai Williams.

Dai is one half of the Manchester based duo JOY SOCIAL. Known for their exciting DJ sets that sweep the genres of Disco, House, Boogie, Techno and Garage. 
They hold down a monthly residency at Cottonopolis Manchester and play regularly throughout the city at the likes of, Ramona, The Refuge, Escape to Freight Island, Parklife, Hatch and many more. 
As far as club nights go the pair have played for Percolate, High Hoops, On Loop, La Discotheque and The Warehouse Project.
Throughout his journey with JOY SOCIAL, Dai has shared the bill some of the industry's best, including Floating Points, Honey Dijon, Kerri Chandler, Hunee, Horse Meat Disco, San Proper, Moxie, Josey Rebelle, Wes Baggaley and Shanti Celeste.

Number 54 is from Chris Raynor - here's a few words from the man himself .........

Dear Doodlers,

I’m really chuffed to have been asked to share some music with you all.  So .. . .a little bit about me.

I’m an aging raver (aren’t we all) who moved to Manchester from Yorkshire in 1992 and started DJ’ing shortly afterwards. 
Whilst mainly a ‘bedroom’ DJ, I had the pleasure of DJing at old haunts such as Generation X, Iso Bar and Sankey’s.  However, a claim to fame would be playing downstairs at the Hacienda one Friday after my mate the resident DJ left me in charge for a ‘few minutes’ and became temporarily incapacitated!

Life moved on as it does, but I never sold my decks or records and kept collecting vinyl along the way.   About 15 years ago I found my way back into djing when I joined a popular oldskool forum and hosted a weekly radio show.  This led to getting offered gigs as far afield as Cornwall with the likes of DIY, Inland Knights and I even played with Acid House legend DJ Pierre in an oriental restaurant in Manchester.

Whilst still a lover and collector of vinyl, I took the digital plunge a few years back and since then have played for Sticky Heat, Club Solo and this summer was asked to play at the amazing Beat-Herder Festival.  There is more in the pipeline for 2023, so hopefully see you at a gig soon.

My style. . . .H’mmm. . . .House that has a good soulful edge, a great baseline and slice of old school is never too far away! 
Whilst this mix is starts in 1989 (RIP Manuel Göttsching) it is very much rooted in 2022 and I hope you enjoy!

He's the founder and resident of BENT - a hugely popular queer day rave at the DBA, he's also a regular at Nite School, and ex-resident of Manchester's gay fetish scene.

Previously holding down a long term monthly residency on Manchester station Rainy City Radio, with airplay on 6 Music and Tom Ravenscroft, Jim Earl Grey has been writing and releasing uptempo music since 2009.
 Jim’s stuff draws from a wide range of musical influences, from jazz and prog rock, soul and funk, house and hip hop, putting together at an eclectic blend of percussive and breakbeat styles that land somewhere between home listening and dancefloor territory.

Liam Oliver is the head honcho of Manchester based music blog and club night All My Friends.  A regular collaborator with the Doodle team he loves chatting about Manchester nightlife and dance music culture. 

When he’s not writing he’s either hosting his AMF Eastern Bloc in-store events that shine a light on the diverse talent he has on the AMF blog or running a joint AMF x ALLTRAX club night with fellow Manchester promoter Tom2Trax.

Liam’s been busy since the end of the pandemic and has been fortunate enough to warmup for and share the bill with some amazing artists including Alexis (Hot Chip), Ben Pearce, Jordan Nocturne, James Greenwood and soon enough Krysko (he’ll be playing for AMF & ALLTRAX on the 9th September).

He's been doing the rounds for some years in the Swansea and South Wales areas and has been involved in local institutions such as Indigo, KroBar and Escape.
His soulful sounds have caught the ears of L'America in Cardiff and he's now part of their resident line-up with their next event, on the 25th May with former Doodler Jamie 3:26 no less.
