‘This Is Dubstep 2011’ brings an upfront and varied selection with forty of this year’s freshest tunes from some of the biggest names in the scene, spanning the whole spectrum of the ever-evolving sound. Including five exclusive, unreleased tracks alongside some of the biggest tracks of the year and a slew of huge remixes from the likes of Trolley Snatcha, Distance and Excision & Datsik, the compilation serves as a bold statement about the health of the dubstep scene in 2011.
 
The meteoric rise of dubstep from the back rooms of Croydon record shops to the main stages of the world has seen the genre expand and diversify beyond all limitations. ‘This Is Dubstep 2011’ explores the multifarious branches of the 140 bpm sound over two CDs, at once highlighting the wealth of brilliant music being made within the scene and the multiplicity and endless possibilities that the sound has to offer. With each track providing a new and individual take on the sound, big room bangers sit comfortably next to purist underground anthems to give a panoramic view of the scene as it stands today.
 
Featuring contributions from a number of the biggest names in the scene today, you will hear tracks from the likes of Skream, Icicle, Kryptic Minds, Nero and Burial to name just a few. Icicle’s intellectual beats melt into the lowdown dub of Loefah & Skream, the shock out monstrosity of Bass Cannon fires into the broken beat funk of Emalkay, and the Modestep anthem ‘Feel Good’ licks over the gunfire chaos of Doctor P’s Big Boss.
 
From D1’s rave-referencing ‘Flood of Emotions’ featuring Jenna G through the rhythmic mastery of Pearson Sound’s ‘Blanked’ to the deep 2-step of Dark sky’s ‘Drowned City’ and beyond, the compilation provides an exciting view of the scene in 2011 and acts as a mouth-watering taste of the future. Scene pioneer Cyrus contributes with an exclusive track, as do Kulture, Von D & Riskotheque and Eptic, with his remix of Modestep’s anthem ‘Feel Good’.
