More sunbathed melodies this week are coming from Madrid, Spain, and a well-respected DJ and producer from the disco and house scene and owner of Night Shift Records, Javi Frias.
 
His musical journey began when he started collecting funky records as a young soul boy in his hometown of Madrid. Now he travels the world, spreading love, and rocking parties, through his eclectic DJ sets full of sultry disco edits, boogie bombs, and soulful house sounds. 
As a producer, he has recently started making noise with a series of impressive edits and reworks, which have been published on a handful of EPs and singles with influential labels including Street Edits, Tropical Disco, Midnight Riot, and Boogie Café. 

His music has been supported by disco heavyweights such as Danny Krivit, Red Greg, Horse Meat Disco, Jacques Renault, and Joey Negro, whom he has also shared the decks with at his own famed Discotizer parties at Marula Cafe Madrid. Connecting all the disco dots, Javi also has his own label ‘Night Shift Records’ where he has predominantly released a series of his own club-ready re-edits, as well as working with Never Dull and Chassé. 

The disco flame continues to burn, and Javi has plenty in the pipeline for 2022 and beyond.

I wasn't planning to do a follow up to 'Deep End' so soon but I have had a few requests since vol 1 and I can't seem to get my head out of the deep house waters :) So, here it is vol 2 with the same moody underground feel as vol 1. This will set will be at home in the middle of the night at a dark underground or simply while you are getting work done or driving to your destination. Let's get Deep! - again.

This week my special guest is Brazilian DJ and radio show host Alessandro Oliveira. I'm a big fan of his "Disco Dance Radio Show", and it's a pleasure to welcome him to my own show 

** DJ BIO **
Alessandro Oliveira is a DJ who plays house, disco house, soulful and nu disco, plus flashbacks from 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s. He was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil.

He began his career at the age of 14, with his musical influences being the main dance pop groups and singers of the 80s such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, New Order, Pet Shop Boys, as well as the 90s: Front 242, Double You, Black Box, Erasure and all other euro dance artists. That's why he loves it when he's asked to play at a flashback party!

Throughout his career, he played in the main nightclubs in São Paulo, in addition to 2 programs (Turbo Mix and Ritmo da Noite) on one of the main radio stations in Brazil - Jovem Pan 2. In addition, he was also the DJ responsible for WebVintage Radio, the first "only 80s" themed radio in the world, for 2 years with an exclusive 2-hour edition of pure disco house on Fridays and Saturdays.

Today he is responsible for Disco Dance, a weekly radio show, which has channels on SoundCloud, YouTube and Mixcloud, in addition to being broadcast on several partner radio stations.

I was back live on NDC after taking a little Glasto recovery break two weeks ago, and I had a lovely time mixing up funky nuggets old and new. Then in hour 2 I was thrilled to present a guest mix from the man responsible for a good few of my favourite edits of the last few years, DJ Laurel from Warsaw. He’s had releases on a load of excellent labels, and this mix showcased his skill at selecting the best in nu-disco and funky goodness. Really enjoyed this one!
