My number one goal when making a mix is always to tell a story, and to make the hour feel like a journey that we can take together. I couldn't care less about exclusives, VIP remixes, or proving that I have more unreleased music than the next guy. I just want to jump into your head and soundtrack a day of your life, and that all comes down to telling a story through the songs that transcend the summer of 2016.  

To me, the story of this Verano mix is all about change... unavoidable oncoming change. Just like Autumn's inevitable arrival at the end of Summer, I can't help but feel like something is on the horizon ready to change everything. I'm not sure what the next few months will hold but it feels like things will get blurry and never be the same again. Change can be terrifying and exciting all at once. The summer can be the best and the worst in that way. I tried to capture that with this mix.

Things are fine and then they aren't but there's always hope at the end.

My set recorded live at Montreal AIM Electronic Music Festival, in July. I went on around 3:30 in the morning so it starts heavier and cools down as the crowd starts thinning out to call it a night, so it felt more like a closing set even though the music was continues for 36 hours at the festival...

This is my last set ever at Comfort Zone at 480 Spadina aka Toronto's most legendary electronic music after hours! Set time 9-10:30am. This set is a mix of new tracks, classics, classic samples, and tracks that have meant something to my musical journey in the past 7 years since I started going back to Zone after a hiatus.

I have been going to Comfort Zone since 1997 and have played there many times in the past few years, including a monthly residency. It is a special place and Toronto's underground scene is sad to see it go since it brings so many different walks of life to dance till the morning (or afternoon) together. When I was a teenager we used to go there after raves, before going home. Then we would get showered and come back for a different vibe at night. From 1997-2001 I didn't miss a single Sunday. I took some years off Zone, due to living in Asia. But that place has always held a special place in my heart, so of course I made it back. Really sad to see this place go but glad I recorded this last set. I hope you enjoy it.
