Die Debut EP "City Lights" von The Next Movement ist ein stimmungsvoller, bluesig groovender Soundtrack, der am besten zurückgelehnt mit geschlossenen Augen genossen wird. Die Songs sind im Lauf der letzten Jahre im Rahmen unzähliger "Analog-Sessions" entstanden. Das meiste davon wurde vom Trio live im SoulVision-Studio eingespielt. Die drei Vollblut-Musiker haben dabei eine Stimmung getroffen welche an gesetzt groovende Künstler wie John Mayer oder das John Butler Trio erinnert. Der Titelsong "City Lights" – mit einer Special-Appearance der Soul-Diva Freda Goodlett - und der geflüsterte, mit sexueller Energie geladene Track "Running with the Devil" stechen dabei besonders heraus.

Imagine Beastie Boys meets Chemical Brothers, but funkier... Old school drumbreaks - the dirty kind - with a fat riff and a - yes, you’re right - cowbell build the foundation, while blasting rhymes cut thru the megaphone directly into the dancing heart.
The extremly catchy and hooky track is a wellrounded mélange of electronic elements and precise accoustic craftmanship by the top-notch players. Latest by the B section even the laziest couch potatoes should be on their feet, unless the 4 layers of clean funk guitar over the blasting 808 drumbreak has already cut their unfunky heads off. „All the Ladies in house, get your ass on the subbass!“

The TNM Spaceship is - despite corona - still on target: The bands 4th single this year is coming on April 24th and the vibes are groovy smooth!
UNDERSTOOD combines Thundercat-ish funky basslines with tight Prince production. Edgy leadguitars take turns with stripped-down on point vocals. No fillers. Detailed percussion parts blend with fresh synth-chords. Hand-picked analog sources like the good old Fender Rhodes bring back the beautiful warmth we miss in the digital world.
The songs purpose is self-therapy. A conversation with oneself, where questions and doubts are answered by the own system for a better mental hygiene.
Soul? R’n’B? Neo-Crossover-Funk? Indie Electronic Soul-Funk?
What do I know. Best believe what drips lushly out of the speakers is hypnotic and soothing at once. Relax.

May 2020 is raw and funky: The fifth TNM single this year grooves around the corner on may 29th like a lovely warm old vinyl record. 
Through The Middle sounds like a fresh jam session out of Nashville. No surprise though as it’s been recorded exactly this way. Based on a self-created old school drum loop everything revolves around the bassline pumping through the song with no less than 996 sixteenth notes. The dusty - yet timeless - Fender Rhodes Piano interweaves percussively with the bluesy-funky Fender guitar.
Voilà, the groove is locked and sits deep in the pocket where usually nothing is found but lint.

The calendar marks June in this oh so crazy Corona year 2020. The Next Movement will not give up and are keeping their schedule of a monthly release no matter the amount of obstacles that come their way:

Stab Somebody Else, originally an ode to past love can as well be heard as a critical call to the government and the neo-capitalist system. Either way the interpretation, the pain is equally big and finds a highly suitable outlet on this retro-futuristic analog-beat. 
With great dynamics and skillful bluesy, r’n’b-funk prowess, the Trio delivers yet another strong song a healthy step away of mainstream.
