This new EP explores their London house n garage roots and includes a remix from deep house don Boris Werner to complete the package in ‘Classique’ style.

Thoma Bulwer delivers a solo EP and part of his soul in this diverse 4 tracker with titles conceived in his studios at different points in his life and studio engineering career, all revamped or freshly written to this ‘mini-album’. The A1 kicks off with ‘Work It’ a 4×4 house n techno roller you’d be familiar hearing at Starlane Pizza Bar, something like Hackney Wick meets Perlon. A2 ‘Bit’s n Bobs, is an electro, 2Step garage deep roller inspired by his time at Freerotation festival and digging at Template of Vinyl. B1 ‘Situation Escalation’ is exactly what is says on the tin and captures at intense night and time in his life. The EP rounds off with B2 ‘Home Wrecker’, a wonky garage and breaks track with dental vocal clicks from the past fused in to nasty UK bass n drums and write raw to the floor.

For our 4th original release we have a meeting of minds between two of our very close friends, Subb-an and Thoma Bulwer!

Made deep in the green countryside of Devon’s hills, before being adeptly finished off at TB Studios in Hackney Wick, the Devon Hills EP pulls together influences from 90’s tech house and early breaks to bring four driving and groove-laden tracks, functional but with heaps of soul.

The A side comprises two late night Autobahn bangers, rubbery misbehaved basslines and precise chord rhythms made to hypnotise the dance. Devon Hills is the most outspoken of the pair, with a loud chiming hook and an earwigging bleep melody, while DV-07 prefers to remain composed in its rolling bassline and sharp drum programming. 

On the flip things go a little deeper with DV8, a padded out and chunky tribal breakbeat track with a deliciously crunchy snare. Closing out the four-track EP, East Wick lightens the mood with a sporadic break and bouncy synth melody, great afters tackle.

DJ feedback below,  which I feel describes the track from Zigy. He let me borrow his Orchid midi controller which I came up with the chords through a patch on my Waldorf M synthiser which reminded me of LL Cool J’s track ‘doing it now’ and also Grace Jones’s ‘Jamaican Guy’ which it was sampled from. There are no samples in this track, just raw emotion and voice note from me to my dear friend Ben who has helped me express my feelings this year. BIG LOVE, Thoma

So brave to do that  . So personal , it’s not another ai voice singing some made up lyrics . That’s you and that is so deep and real. I bet it felt liberating . It’s raw, honest, unfinished and it touched deep bro . I am honoured . That dreamscape mirrors the London rat race .. never ending dullness but drive to continue to just live . I can almost smell smog and hear the tube and busses…. As the sun rises up it comes to the end of a night session… the daily daze that we walk through it could be anyone , everyone ,  throwing their 64 bar spit as they look ahead and trudge viz the breakbeat drums make it all ok. Just keep on trudging through and forwards. Wow”

There is no denying that in London there is a definite renaissance period in the offing and it is being lovingly steered by a number of hard-working artists. The emerging London sound emanating from the Hackney Wick area has been building momentum for some time and perhaps ground zero can be pinpointed to the work being carried out in Thoma Bulwer’s TB Mastering studio. Whether that be his collaborative projects or his analogue mixdowns and mastering of his cohorts and their respective labels the music coming from this enclave of London is retro-futuristic fire.

To package this sound neatly and present it on a larger forum the artists have clubbed together to present the sound of London’s Wick Voyagers by way of a 14 track VA that is shortly seeing the light of day on Bulwer’s own Parasol Culture imprint. Staunch supporters of the London scene converge on this extended EP and include established names Voigtmann, Anna Wall, Bobby., Robert James, Adam Curtain, N-Gynn, Paranoid London, and Subb-an.
