"The late 70’s soul and funk hymn “I Think I’ll Do Some Stepping (On My Own)” by New York based singer Sandy Barber got reworked for modern vintage requirements. The original version was featured on Sandy Barber’s album “The Best Is Yet To Come.” from 1978 and it’s reconstruction has been done by Opolopo from Stockholm. The dj and producer from Sweden previously appeared on labels like Swedish Brandy Productions, Local Talk, Tokyo Dawn Records or Ebo Records with modern house sounds and a strong soul affection. His currently released work is a classical edit that breathes the emotive energy of a strong base material but should also delight unprejudiced ears and dancing feet, because the art of editing has been done with a keen sense in here. Slight changes and cuts, as well as decently added sounds straightens the original with its musical complexity and different parts into an ongoing late night disco soul pleasure. Very nice! (Jan) "

We’re all suckers for piano driven house music, so we were instantly drawn in by “Everlast,” the first track from @DorsiPlantar’s forthcoming Everlast EP on Washington D.C.’s @BetterListenRecords. If you aren’t familiar, BLR has been on fire since its inception, as Martín Miguel, the man behind the music, has an excellent ear for talent. This project, along with stellar releases from The Last Trip to Gandahar, Ponty Mython, and Cody Currie, more than solidify BLR’s place as a taste-making label amidst a sea of wannabes.


Uplifting from the jump, “Everlast” is the kind of track that carries an opening set into the middle of the night, pushing bodies to the dance floor with a message that says, “it’s time we kick things off.” A punchy keyboard loop sits below glistening stabs, all complemented by a beautiful arrangement of organic percussion and a thick sub riff that adds Dorsi’s signature oomph to an already slammin’ affair. This is whip music, folks. This is music for the outdoors; the music in your head when you feel like the world is yours. This is the sonic equivalent to a smooth radio voice; Plantar puts the sex in sexy. 

Fans of “Everlast” won’t be disappointed by the rest of the EP, consisting of three more vibe-setting joints that are equally as uplifting and playable. Keep an eye on the BLR page as they roll out this EP… it’s one for the books.

Mexican edit king Hotmood opens up the flood gates with his floor-friendly disco infused "Illusions" that's sure to make the body rock! Following suit is Texas native and rework legend The Silver Rider with the jazzy funk laden joint "El Rey". Batting third is label head Cloak Dagger with "Stokely's Lament" an undulating  deep disco protest anthem ripe for the times. UK based rework veteran Chuggin Edits fills out the vibe with his lovely re-edit take on "Nights Over Essex" a subtle and tasteful approach to this disco classic!
