(The Shit-Holes I've Lived In)

I've had to live in some amazing shit-holes in my life, such as the prison cell I was consigned to live in as a conscientious objector, with a bunk that was so small my left arm and both feet hung outside its sides. 

The cell block was desolate except for me, being still under renuveration by the state after 30 years of negligence. 

The place was rotting down and smelled of shit, sweat and dust of generations of criminals, and I was put there personally by the warden as I'd shown signs of disrespect towards his persona. 

But fuck it, I did my time and got out. 

Another interesting place was a student dorm with a bunch of weed-smoking hippies who never cleaned the place up. 

The dirt had accumulated for months, with empty cans and pizza boxes, the dishes moldy with grease of ages. 

It was no wonder those guys smoked so much because they couldn't have coped with the mess sober. 

I did manage to get a few chicks in there from time to time, but always with apologies and explanations of this whole thing being just temporary and not my doing. 

But after this I chose a place from the center, real cheap as well, and at first it seemed good, a cozy old house with a couple of older guys living in there, but after the contract was signed I realized the landlord was a shitty old demented drunk who lived there as well, behind a paper-thin wall next to me and got up to bang my door at any small sound I made, being a night person that I was. 

As if Sibelius would have taken any orders on when to write his music! 

The old fucker was also filthy as a pig, leaving his kitchen so immensely smelly and crummy it rivaled the filthy hippies. 

But while the hippies let me live in peace and score piece of ass, this old scrotum wouldn't allow any movement after midnight, not to mention any night guests, watching by the door, always sleeping in the bedside like a dog, watching who came and went.

I thought about burning the place down but instead searched for a new place, more expensive for sure but without any asshole breathing on my neck. 

Solitude was worth the high price for the sake of limitless creation and carnality.
