From the very beginning, God wanted relationship with us, but we've rejected Him. He's the creator of the universe who's written into us an unquenchable desire for Him, so no wonder we feel empty! We lack the very thing we were made for!

But we don't think we need Him. So we fill our lives with money, entertainment, friends, sex, drugs, thrills, and on and on, never realizing satisfaction.

And we're stuck in a prison of sorts, one that we've made, tolerating a mundane life. 

Captive

At the death of Jesus, the curtain in the temple was torn in two. The curtain was essentially a barrier between man and the full presence of God and only the High Priest could enter into the Most Holy place, beyond the curtain. The tearing of the curtain signifies our righteousness in Christ, because He died in place of us and paid for our sins. We can now have complete relationship with God! 

And The Curtain Was Torn

The beautiful thing is that God loves us enough to save us from the prison that we've made for ourselves. Christ died so that we can live! He conquered death! He came to us and He broke our chains, and all we have to do is accept His gift and walk out the door into eternal life.


The Great Escape

We all feel it. That deep, hollow craving for something more than this. 

Emptiness
