One of seven tracks I recorded with Glow In The Dark Shark in just two days at Fortress Studios back in October 2013. Drums and bass were tracked live, with guitars and vocals overdubbed. The guys wanted it to sound trashy and retro but still have the impact of modern productions... We really had fun with adding loads of weird layers of guitar and adding a frankly stupid amount of reverb & delay. Great fun!

This was my pal's Marcus' uni band, who've now split up. Recorded the instruments a good few years back at the end of my second year of uni but never got round to recording the vocals... But as it turns out the singer lives right round the corner from my studio! So I got him round one night and we smashed out some rad vocal takes despite the fact his voice wasn't 100%. Also got some beefy gang vox in there. Nothing I like more than beefy gang vox. Maybe in another 4 years we'll finish the whole EP!

Me & my good friend Simon Treasure ( http://simontreasure.com ) had a jam to test out the studio's 'new' vintage Rogers drum kit. We recorded loads of grooves, took loads of samples and recorded these three improvised jams... Few 'mistakes' in there as it was totally improvised. It was great fun! I had the pleasure of recording The Empty House Band's (ex Big Sixes) debut three songs recently and this was the first to be released. The guys were super well organised and we had a clear plan of everything that needed to be tracked from the get go, but there were a few moments of immediate improvisation and inspiration that made it onto the songs too. This song had one of the biggest mix sessions I've ever worked on, with around 150 tracks, which meant keeping everything organised was key! Loved working with the dudes as they're all fantastic musicians, focussing on writing great songs rather than writing technically impressive music... The way it should be!

Me and Harry worked on this song over a few very hot summer evenings in 2016 and we had a great time trying some slightly unusual things... I loved the cinematic feel of the song and unusual structure, so I really tried to make the big 'scene changes' feel like huge moments... Loved working on this.

Harry Phillips - Bimini (Recorded/Mixed/Mastered)

Very quickly did some demos with a new band I've started with some friends and thought they sounded good, even though I kept the setup really really simple! Spaced pair of Neumann KM184s as overheads, an AKG D112 positioned outside the reso head of the kick, looking into the hole, a Beyer M201 on snare top and a blumlein pair of Neumann U87s as room mics. I did some pretty straightforward EQ and compression on the individual channels as well as a big ole drum crush parallel buss, but really didn't take too long on dialling it all in - just thought it sounded really cool! No reverb or samples, naturally.
