Another poem as I edit my next poetry book "She" revised. I turned this poem into a song. This is a song about a man on his deathbed speaking with the love of his life. Letting her know he will always be near.

Please hold my hand while I lay to sleep
So that I may find my way back to you 
When I no longer have the strength 

Place your hand over my eyes
So I may know darkness in your light 
When I myself stand cold and blind

Rub your fingers through my hair
So I may feel a slight breeze 
In my dreams to hold you dear 
In my silence

Kiss my lips one last time
So I know in my final breath 
It is you that had said goodbye 
In my mind

As you feel my spirit leave whisper in my ear
Tell me the truth that in time you’ll be near
Now without fear I knew in my last years
It was you I found peace in as I came to tears

Released May 1st: This video is a song written back in the heyday of well, you know when I use to play more regularly. I edited the lyrics and placed this song, along with a good amount of other songs, into a new "revised" poetry book coming out soon.

I found these lyrics hidden away in my files. So much so I had no title for the song. It was labeled New Song. Right there, we call that originality in place markers... There is a romantic undertone to these lyrics. However, I wanted to explore the emotional base of a warrior standing next to his daughter's body during her wake. He is being sent back into battle after his city was attacked and he is struggling inside his personal grave of grief. 

Silent Paintings

I kissed death softly on her lips
Her eyes empty and lost in a deep endless abyss
I felt life course through her bliss
Pulsing against my hand upon her chest

For weeks I stood over her body
Laying plainly and unkept 
On a stone field faintly
I saw a spark of hope across her breast

The fire is falling from skies as I'm balling
Blisters are burning as I'm twisting and turning
Clawing to be free of my grave

Hiding to find me with morals beside me
What lessons I learned as my essence was churned 
Mankind left me bleeding to fade

Cold wind blasted
From on the other side
She was waiting for me 
Calling my name across a silent tide
Dine upon the solo sights 
Ending in barren dreams of mortal blight

Chaos calls in many ways
Silent and fleeting in wind's decay
Comforting smiles sinister and guile
Upon the face of love's denial

What have I been left with
Branded and without worth
All for love I killed my own blood
Left stranded in a pile of denial
