Battle Castle was created in 7 days for the 7 day First Person Shooter challenge. Our game features a knight versus a dragon, with two human players fighting it out against each other. The knight may be small, but can use the castle's walls for protection and its cannons for extra firepower. The dragon, armed with fireballs, can destroy anything in its path, but has no external defense from the knight. To play the game, message me!

I was presented the opportunity to make multiple tracks like one would find on a cassette for the game Pause Play Stop. These tracks were to have unique moods individually, but when combined, form a new mood. This track begins with the combined moods, then branch off into the different moods, going back and forth seamlessly (as if the cassette were quickly changed). The track ends with the mood of the combined tracks.

Super Princess Vania Maker (8 bit)

Biscuits 'N Gravy for 6 Guitars and Voice, composed September 2015 by Thomas L. Wilson, performed by Corey Fant, Alex Haisting, Julianne Heany, Hannah Kendrick, John Roberts Leonard, and Kristen Miller. 

This piece was inspired by a group of elderly people who would meet at Jack's (restaurant) every Friday morning to play old folk songs. They may not have had the best intonation or rhythmic consistency, but they always shared their love for music.

The work has 16 unique rhythms in a mixture of 3/4, 6/8. Each guitar has their own unique number of repetitions of open "white-note" chords. For a score or media download, feel free to message.

Refractions – Orchestra (2017) Sequenced Version

Thomas L. Wilson was inspired to write "Fighting the Mischievous Imp" for the Atlantic Music Festival in 2019. He drew inspiration from the video games he began playing as a child and continues to play to this day. The final boss of a game would not be a mischievous imp, but the imp functions as a rather quirky mid-boss. The work is open-ended as the ensemble decides the performance length. Just like in a video game, the boss may be defeated quickly, or a more nuanced approach may be needed. Will the ensemble win or lose while "Fighting the Mischievous Imp"?

I wrote "Ashi" as a title theme for a video game I was working on in 2013. I titled it "Ashi" based off Lake Ashi, a place Kaci and I visited while in Japan in the summer of 2018. Ashi translates to leg or foot, and the work requires deft use of the piano pedaling to create sonorous echoes. "Ashi" premiered at the Atlantic Music Festival hosted by Colby College in Waterville Maine on July 26th, 2019 by pianist and friend Jiawen Guan.

I wrote "An Evening in Winter" as an announcement trailer for a video game I was working on in 2016. I titled it "An Evening in Winter" based on the evening when I wrote the piece, a particularly chilly one in 2016. Tensão–Tension uses a single-note sample of the Berimbau, but in another new unique context. Using multiple processes, this single attack develops in real time during the performance. Tension arises as the sample drifts further from its origins. The piece works through this tension before ending in a calm release.

Photos. Any portable electronic device manufactured today probably contains at  least one camera. Before, this would have been inconceivable! Now, with hundreds of cameras present at this performance, photography is possible at billions of fingertips. Yet these micro cameras generally falter in the night sky. On the flip side, we generally disable flash on a smart phone because of the associated negative social norms.

We now reserve Flash Photography for large cameras and special occasions. This work, inspired by the composer's memories, attempts to recreate those special moments in music the thoughts where words falter. The instrumentation, flute and acoustic guitar, mirror the first instruments of the composer and his partner.
