Hear, There! Is an experimental project to create electronic music strictly from field recordings and my own voice. 

Each track was made at a particular location from the objects and sounds that happened to be there at that time and place.

Mr Rhodes (real name Blake Teddy Rhodes) - is a young indigenous hip hop artist from Lismore,  a local legend and very proud Bundjalung Nation man.  He works hard with the local music charity Dream Bigger. Earlier this year he was awarded a Music NSW scholarship through the Powerhouse Museum to help take his music to the next level. 

Mr Rhodes was rocked by the events surrounding the death of George Floyd and in particular the outpouring of both love and racial hatred within Australia online.  He said "every post about Floyd was just full fake profiles spewing racial hatred, trying to justify or down play Floyd's death. I just got myself so sad and so angry I had to tell myself to breathe. Mike (Thomas Shaw) sent me the beat right in the middle of this intense moment in my life."

Into the equation comes Thomas Shaw writer and producer, real name Mike Watson who is the lead guitarist of indie rock band WHARVES. Thomas Shaw has a wide love of experimental music and works with many local artists, writing and producing. He uses complex electronic music techniques mixed with analog field recordings. For example on this track he recorded the ocean at Lennox Head to create the bass line. For percussion he added the sound of a match being struck. 

A match being struck was exactly the reaction from Mr Rhodes when he first heard the beats with his emotions and anger pouring out with brutal honesty into the track... 'Doing It Well' is the result.
