Simple Symmetry are back on Calypso for a second offering but this time around it's in a different format. They've enlisted remixes of tracks from their Sorry We Did Something Wrong album which first landed back in 2021 as a self-released project, which won over many fans with a sound that went way beyond the club and now gets repurposed for the dancefloor with extended and club versions. The Horsemen Of Housing & Commercial Services rework of 'Che Che' is a dark disco classic, Smaghhe & Cross rework 'Rounded With A Sleep' into something taught and trippy and INigo Vontier layers in plenty of darkness, grit and grime to his take on 'I Must Not Fear'.

PREMIERE: Simple Symmetry - Che Che (Extended Version) [Calypso]

Last Night the homonymous track opens up the EP with a driven and transonic form to lift up the floor to deep inner stages in which through percussion characteristic of Radial Gaze and syncopated baselines.

To complete the dance realm on this one, this EP showcases another two extremely hot artist to have their take as remixers and to welcome us to their kingdom. Kimshies, duo from France, take Last Night and put a twist on it through a compulsive arpeggio which mutates over and over through its hypnotic voices, cowbells and dissonance, and edgy take.

Andrey Sirotkin makes a remarkable debut on THISBE Recordings with the single “Untouchable”, a synth-infused slow techno track with an electric 80s feel, that should awaken every listener’s imagination from start to finish. The Kyiv-based producer, known for his fine analogically produced leftfield techno tracks released - among others - on Rune Records and Mystictrax and his own label Vyrii records, comes up once again with an original production which strikes the right emotional balance between melancholy and euphoria.

Initially produced as an instrumental tune, such an atmospheric track was begging for an extra melodic vocal ­input, and this is where Pyrame comes into play. Indeed, “Untouchable” features the Berlin-based lyricist and vocalist who conveys a warning message about humankind being reduced to a simple product in modern society, a lame unit in a world driven by statistics where everything is measured and quantified. The writing is on the wall: with “Untouchable”, Pyrame raises awareness about losing every aspect of our freedom, privacy and unbiased opinion. Scary, with the hope of getting sometime, somehow, out of it. We must.

In order to add some other perspectives to “Untouchable” when it comes to genres, the EP is completed by a deep techno remix by Joseph S Joyce, A Caribbean rework by A-Tweed & Oltrefuturo - which also got declined into a dub version - as well as an electro mix by Acid Washed.

Teniente Castillo returns to Roam Recordings with Two to Tango - an artfully crafted dark offering backed by a strong set of remixers that carry the integrity of the original into uniquely different areas. The original version from Play Pal Music label boss combines guitars and electronic sounds in a way that both sounds like a live band and an abstract excerpt from a conscious machine. Legendary New York artist Justin Strauss takes on the first remix adding a vocal that sounds like it was always meant to be underpinned by an exquisite liquid bassline. Rome-based producer A-Tweed lands on our sub-label Human Endeavour with a four-track EP of hypnotic, leftfield chuggers. Well known for his cocktail of crawling, lysergic beats and low slung acid mutations, the Italian producer follows outings for labels like TRESOR, Multi Culti and Hard Fist, with the wonky, tripped-out rhythms of ‘Riot Disco Punk’.

Shunning conventional dancefloor tropes, A-Tweed brings his signature punk attitude to this self-proclaimed “personal musical riot”, launching with ‘Kabuki Spin’, a steady beat awash with reverberating synths and whispered vocals that take us out of reality. 

The off kilter wonk of the title track follows with a smattering of bleeps, bloops, crunches and vocal stabs, setting the scene for the intoxicating, skewed rhythms of ‘Akira Danse!’ and psychedelic tribal beats of ‘Dusty Rumble Fish’; each track serving as a reminder that it's always more fun to colour outside of the lines.

At first @margo.feirabend (Maria Eugênia Feirabend) (Instagram) went on an excursion to visit one of the original peoples and helped us make this communication and record the songs of the Shanenawa tribe. Shanenawa meaning ‘People of the blue bird’. It is a very beautiful bird that existed and is now endangered. It is because of its rarity that we are different; That's why the Shanenawa people only have one in Acre and they don't have one anywhere else in Brazil.
