So jetzt wo es in den Herbst rein geht, kann der Sound auch mal wieder etwas düsterer und technoider werden. Deswegen hab ich mir für den Oktober-Start die junge Künstlerin Nina Hepburn aus Hamburg eingeladen. 

Auf Nina bin ich durch meinen soundverliebten Freund Beni von Kollektiv Fischmarkt aufmerksam gemacht worden --- Danke Beni hier nochmals an der Stelle ;-) Und Nina hat sich in den letzten zwei Jahren zu einer festen Größe in der Hamburger Partywelt etabliert. Waagenbau, Über&Gefährlich, Prinzenbar bis hin zum Ort wo die Pinguine tanzen, überall ist Nina anzutreffen. 

Ihr Sound begeistert mich vor allem durch ihren unwiderstehlichen Druck und die leichte Düsterheit. Von dem her ist es auch nicht verwunderlich das Nina gerade auch fleißig an ihren ersten eigenen Produktionen feilt … man darf mehr als gespannt sein was da noch so alles kommt. 

Liebe Nina tausend Dank für diese umwerfende Stunde Musik und meinen Hörern wünsche ich viel Freude mit dem hochenergetischen Set von Nina Hepburn.

Abstraal is a duo with a shamanic sound. They cook up the sort of absorbing grooves that get you moving and always stir up a storm on the dance floor. Based in Lyon, Tutti & Castelz have been combing their powers for a couple of years now, but have ten years of friendship to draw on when casting their musical spells on dance floors all over Germany, Spain, France, England and Denmark.

They are born from the elastic union of astral scientists in a secret lab” they say of how they cook up their otherworldly sounds : always with afro tinges, melodic synths and an ethnic feel, their music is never too dark and always designed for dancing late into the night. It has come on labels like Natura Viva Music, the vital Family Piknik Music and Click Records, with high profile supporters like Laurent Garnier, Black Coffee, Township Rebellion, Anna, Ida Engberg, Shall Ocin, James Zabiella all dropping & supporting Abstraal tunes in their sets. 

Despite being a relatively new duo, this pair made an immediate mark: they have already had Top 20 hits on the Beatport Melodic House & Techno Chart with "Massalia" and a Top 20 Afro Track with "The Ancient One", as well dropping a big free edit of Kavinsky’s ‘Nightcall’ which also picked up plenty of plays. 

Beyond DJing and producing, Abstraal are dictating trends in dance music in many other ways. "Based on Real Facts" is their monthly radioshow on Datatransmisison and has seen them host guests like Glowal, Phunkadelica, Citizen Kain, Space Motion, Ivan Masa and more. As well as this, they run their own cult and pivotal parties in Lyon under the XLR Events banner and have done for seven years now. As such, Abstraal are deeply involved in dance music, shaping it in their own unique way and making a lasting impression with whatever they do.

'Music was my first love', that's definitely true for me. Long before I discovered the beauty of female attraction, arts and good food, I perceived the emotional excitement of good music. I grew up with progressive rock in the 70s with the likes of Pink Floyd, Genesis and Supertramp. Beginning of the 80s Philly Sound brought me to Soul and Funk. The Street Sounds Collection opened my mind for Disco Music and House. Inspired by the beatmixing Mixtapes of the DMC (Disco Mix Club) in the early 80s I decided to start a DJ career, which I unfortunately was forced to stop after a few weeks. I had my first residency in the club ‘Veritas’ in Neuss for owner Dieter Scharper. They did not understand the concept of beatmixing at those days and refused to provide Technics 1200 or Thorens turntables. Instead, they forced me to play with Panasonic turntables without a pitch option, degraded me to a jukebox. I kicked the job after three weeks and focused on a business career.

In 2005, after years of inspiring party events on Ibiza, me and my wife created the party circle 'privatemonkey.com' to bring a high level electronic and 'non posh' party to Düsseldorf. Being a booker for this event for more than a decade developed my music expertise and brought me back to the place behind the Mixer in 2015, when a friend asked me to perform for his new party event.

Since then, I developed my DJ skills and performed for several well known local events including Club102, Silq, PrivateMonkey, Oh Baby Anna, Meshugge Bar, La Rocca, Schwarz and many more.

I am usually booked to play melodic deephouse and techno sounds around 120-125 bpm, but I feel very comfortable playing 125-130 bpm peak time techno or a nice chillout afternoon as well.
