Fr. Anselm Ramelow, O.P. is Professor of Philosophy and Philosophy Department Chair at the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology in Berkeley, CA. He holds a Ph.D in Philosophy from the University of Munich. At Munich, he studied with Robert Spaemann, and wrote a dissertation titled "Gott, Freiheit, Weltenwahl. Die Metaphysik der Willensfreiheit zwischen Antonio Perez, S. J. (1599-1649) und G.W. Leibniz (1646-1716," investigating the concept of "the best of all possible worlds." In 2018, he published the first comprehensive, article-length overview of Robert Spaemann's thought in Communio. He regularly teaches courses on modern philosophy and theology, covering Leibniz, Kant, Fichte, Hegel, Schleiermacher, Kierkegaard, Wittgenstein, Gadamer, phenomenology, Heidegger, and the linguistic turn in philosophy and theology.

Prof. John Lennox studied at the Royal School Armagh, Northern Ireland and was Exhibitioner and Senior Scholar at Emmanuel College, Cambridge University from which he took his MA, MMath and PhD. He worked for many years in the Mathematics Institute at the University of Wales in Cardiff which awarded him a DSc for his research. He also holds an MA and DPhil from Oxford University (by incorporation) and an MA in Bioethics from the University of Surrey. He was a Senior Alexander Von Humboldt Fellow at the Universities of Würzburg and Freiburg in Germany.

Professor Raymond Hain is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Providence College and Associate Director of the Providence College Humanities Program. He received his BA in Philosophy from Christendom College and his MA and PhD in Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame, where he studied under Ralph McInerny and David Solomon. He works primarily in moral philosophy in the Thomistic tradition, as well as topics in applied ethics (especially bioethics and the ethics of architecture) and connections between philosophy and literature. As part of the Humanities Program, he directs the Providence College Humanities Forum and the Providence College Humanities Reading Seminars.

Disquiet Junto Project 0477: Record a piece of music in which some substantial portion is performed without looking.

I was doing something else on my iPad, sitting outside in the sun this afternoon, when the nearby bells belled. I suddenly remembered a sentence I read just yesterday, that natural idiophones where the best base for granular synthesis. I managed to record the already fading bells with the iPad and loaded copies of the samples into the Samplr App. It's three tracks with the original sample (I mixed the unchanged version to the beginning of the track), two of them very normal, one very high und unrecognisable as such. This settings and the recording in AudioShare I did by looking, then I flew blind, which is not impossible as Samplr gives you some defined area to touch (and you need to look to stop the machine or tracks with two fingers). But as the iPad surface does not give any haptic feedback, there were a lot of things going wrong anyway. This track uses around 5 minutes that sounded pretty good to me, but maybe it's just because I like church bells. Trivia: In this case it's the St. Maximilian church in Munich, Germany, and the bells have vintage names like Otto, Ludwig, Maximilian and Salve and they bell every saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. (and no, I didn't knew that until I checked Wikipedia for this description).

Typhlotic Bells [disquiet0477]

My audio collage was made by setting up two radio music modules, one playing banks of unfinished tracks I'd done and another filled with audio recorded from public radio. I also set up the radio receiver on a Koma Field Kit to live scan an FM band, whilst the sources were triggered and scrubbed by a complex rats' nest of clock synced LFOs.
I can't really call it a composition as it was me simply setting up a process and documenting the chance encounter. Somewhat fortuitously the Field Kit locked onto a local station broadcasting Covid public service announcements hence the title. Consequently the mix is very rough and unpolished and the chance interplays of radio snippets is best heard on headphones.
