When Legpuppy asked if I fancied remixing another of their tracks, I jumped at the chance.  Out came my dusty guitars, the old bass and well, this is what happened.  Punk? Rock? Dance? Pop? I have no idea what you call these three and a half minutes…but wow, were they fun to put together and I still feel somewhat breathless by the end.

Almost six years old now and written when I was just starting out, this is my homage to HAL 9000, the softly-spoken but somewhat deranged computer from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

It's been a while since I last wrote anything and to be honest, I was really worried that I would never be able to write anything again. I just totally lost my mojo.  So, this short ambient instrumental may not be the best but it means something to me. It means that there is hope. Always.

Timeless

When I first heard Dmitry Golubovsky's track 'No Air,' I loved the chords he used and immediately wanted to do my own version (original at https://soundcloud.com/golubovsky/more-air.) Luckily Dmitry was happy for me to do this. This is a very rough mix, especially with the vocals but I think I like it this way. It is very different from the original in structure, style and story, focusing now on a dying astronaut who knows he can never return home. It was gonna be an instrumental but after listening to it late one night, I realised that it really needed vocals and so, I thought I'd have a go. Hope you like this one. It's from the heart.

When I saw the film 'Das Boot' for the first time, I was overwhelmed. To understand what life might have been like as a submariner in WW2 was both enlightening and terrifying. Many years on, the theme tune popped into my head for no reason at all and within an hour I had written a short homage to it. Another four years on and I have returned to update the track. I hope you like it.

After working with some very talented artists recently, I guess I needed to prove to myself that I could still work alone & write new things. Hence, 'Red Zero', which is not exactly house, nor dance, nor pop. In fact, I have no idea what it is  but I hope you like it and play it LOUD!

'TheDelta57' came up with a great idea for a track and was kind enough to let me get my hands on it. When I had finished playing around, I asked Skyline Tigers if she was interested in coming up with some lyrics (shown below) and singing on it. First Encounter (feat. Skyline Tigers and TheDelta57)

A few months back, I approached Guitarbeard, wondering if he would be interested in collaborating. To my surprise, he agreed. 

The end result of our collaboration was 'Wanderer', two versions of which have now been created. 

This is my my mix, over four months in the making and very different to Sergey's version.

This entire track evolved from a line in a track called 'Blistering Heat' that my friend TheDelta57 was working on. He was kind enough to let me play around with his original idea and take it wherever I wanted, which in this case was very much back to my electronic roots.

it ain't love

This is a remix of 'No More Air', a song that really took me out of my comfort zone when I first created it as - very unusually for me - I sang on it. Yes, I know singing isn't my thing but for some reason I really felt that I needed to do so on this one, however badly.  The theme about an astronaut dying alone in space, knowing that he will never return home, really tugged at my heartstrings I think. 

This entire track came about after hearing the chords used by Dmitry Golubovsky on his track 'No Air’ and he was kind enough to let me use them here. I hope you like what I did with those chords...

After collaborating with the amazing Nic Evennett before on ‘Feel the burn’, I knew that one day I just had to work with her again. After our previous collaboration, I was so pleased when EllE (Cycle of Hands) agreed to work with me again on this new track, both with the music and vocals. It has not exactly been an easy ride and I have to admit that at times I almost gave up on it...but I am so, so glad that we both persevered, as '4am' has become something rather special and unique. When I stumbled across Ren and heard her incredible voice, I knew straight away that I really wanted to write a song for her. 'Safe' is the result. Ren's thoughtful lyrics paint a poignant picture of a difficult situation, in which one is trapped and desperate to leave, in the hope that they can feel safe again.

I have always loved the rather risqué ‘Leather’ by Legpuppy and was blown away when the band agreed to me doing a remix of it.  This really has been a labour of love for me, adding my own ideas, restructuring the track and experimenting with the stems: I hope that I have done the track justice.

When Ren and I decided to create another song, we initially thought about creating something soft and ethereal.  Then I had an idea, to create something more upbeat…and to Ren’s credit, she went with it.  Before long, we had created ‘Northern Lights’, a track that is anything but soft or slow.
