Wonderwheel Recordings is very proud to present the long awaited debut album Bennu by Queens, NY based produced Thor Partridge, aka Thornato. Building up a name for himself over a number of years as a proficient and in-demand remixer, Thor’s breakout tune “Gaita Gaita” has been sampled thousands of times by producers all over the world, and has become a certified hit record in South America. A string of remixes and a couple of rare song releases later, Thor’s groundbreaking Things Will Change EP was released via Wonderwheel in 2016 garnering massive buzz and record sales, resulting in a European tour that summer, and a Boiler Room performance in the fall.

Bennu represents a giant leap forward for Thornato, as he showcases his chops in crafting dancefloor gems from the ground up. While the electronic production of the album provides a strong backbone, Thor has carefully selected artists from Jamaica, Ecuador, South Africa, Colombia, Canada and beyond to breathe live energy into each song. From the massive bass driven energetic dancehall vibes of “Rhinoceros” featuring veteran chat master Gappy Ranks, to earth shattering chopped up African dancefloor sounds of “Chagamei” to the contemplative Flamenco influenced deep house sound of “Welwyn”, and moving into the uplifting & soulful dembow vibes of “Tu Luz” featuring Lido Pimentia – Bennu is an album that carefully navigates through the globe while maintaining a cohesive and consistent feel from start to finish.

Vermonische Melodien is a collection of compositions by DJ-producer M.RUX, made with old VERMONA machines from Eastern Germany. The nine Electronica tracks can’t conceal their influences of Exotica records from the 1960s as well as their fondness for vintage music technology. We hear voices singing lullabies ("Magische Time"), mumbling chopped up syllables ("Seelnatrax") or reciting a Shakespeare quote ("Bakelit") - are they real? Yes! But they are mostly generated by the world’s first speech synthesis hardware, the IBM 704 from 1954, and processed into off-key melodic beauty with vocoders.

"I’ve always been especially curious about musical visions from the 1970s", says M.RUX about his inspiration for Vermonische Melodien. "Those nifty Vermona machines can today be seen as future machines from the 1970s, they seem almost mystical to me like relics from an epoch long ago… and I wanted to find out how music from that time could have sounded." On the album M.RUX uses, above all, equipment by Vermona, a brand from Eastern Germany manufacturing electronic musical instruments until 1990. The company was founded as VEB Klingenthaler Harmonikawerke in the 1950s, who also produced home-organs under the Weltmeister tag before the name Vermona was finally established in 1972. The drum machine VERMONA ER-9 (1976) was not only the first instrument which M.RUX ever possessed (or does it possess him?), it also forms the rhythmical backbone of M.RUX’s studio on this record. The melodies on the other hand have mainly been played on a Vermona Formation-1, a suitcase synthesizer from 1980. Although these two machines are joined by countless other instruments and effect units from all over the planet, their particular soft sound is present in every single moment of this soothing album. 
"I also take a deep bow to „Lacky“ Reinhard Lakomy who passed away 6 years ago", M.RUX adds. "His releases were the first electronic instrumental records on the Amiga label which has been a huge influence for my work in general and this record in particular."

M.RUX has appeared as a solo producer with his EP "In the Hold" (2016) on his own YNFND imprint. Before that he was especially famous for his edits which gently transform songs by Nina Simone, Townes Van Zandt, Tom Zé and many more into slow, dancefloor-ready gems.

Pingipung is proud to present this first full-length album by M.RUX. He is not only a talented multi-instrumentalist and original producer but also a skillful remixer - as he has shown twice already to the Pingipung audience in the last two years with his touches on Umeko Ando’s Ainu folklore songs.

"Sakoneta" is the new single from multi-instrumentalist Jean Dasso, better known as Yeahman. "Sakoneta" is an evocative and transporting fusion of the folk and electronic influences that define Yeahman's signature downtempo sound. A fluttering of guitars and spacey synthesizers drift and coalesce into a ruminative and soothing sonic journey. Ultimately, "Sakoneta" provides comforting warmth and pause for reflection as the end of a chaotic year draws near.

Yeahman promotes the breaking down of barriers in electronic and world music. His live sets combine his own productions and various fine selections, drawing influence from every continent with global bass-downtempo stylings providing a common denominator.

Powered by the international success of his single "Miniyamba" (Shika Shika, 2019), his career is now taking him to another level. In Spring 2017 on Brazilian avant-garde label Frente Bolivarista he released "Transborda”. His first self-produced EP, “Transborda” was a mission statement that deployed traditional folk influences and his own vision of dreamy and powerful electronic music. Here he shaped his identity, based on ethnical and popular music, studded with new tropical sounds, and pierced by intense electronic vibrations.

Apart from his lifestyle as an artist, Yeahman is also a cultural activist in his hometown of Toulouse, France. He founded and now curates the "Ghetto Sonido" events, associating live bands and DJ sets. He also programs the World Music Festival "Rio Loco", and is involved in several humanitarian initiatives, against climate change (Extinction Rebellion, Earth Night) and human rights (Autonomie) among others.

To celebrate five years since Shika Shika was founded in 2015, the border-crossing organic-electronic collective today releases “Shika Shika 5 Years” - a celebratory double vinyl. The album features a selection of the label’s most-loved tracks on vinyl for the first time such as Yeahman’s summer anthem “Miniyamba”, History of Colour’s classic “Cinder” alongside music by Egyptian singer Dina al Wedidi, German duo JAJA and Sh Sh founders Barrio Lindo and El Buho.

Since 2015 the artist-first label has released music by over 60 artists from 34 countries, including 10 vinyl records and one crowdfunder. It has also created a globally connected community of fans and artists united by the concept of music without borders. The label has made a name for itself for highlighting musical migrations: sounds that mix together cultural influences, tradition with modernity or electronica with organic and natural sounds.
