Mexico (Pat & Deej)

"Here's a little tip..."

The results of a fun afternoon at home.  The order you hear the tracks appear is the order I came up with each part.  I originally just wanted to make a sample loop of that first acoustic guitar riff, then when I recorded it I just kept playing the riff to the drum track. 

The riff started to change and morph around before I went back to the original riff, and since that created a nice little verse structure I put a rolling bassline that started to do its own thing, and added some frilly guitar chords to fill out the sound.

Then the disembodied voice chorus thing happened, the lyrical content of which I found as surprising as some of you probably did.  I then wrote a couple raps going off the sound of the acoustic guitars to bring it all together and that was it.

I wish I hadn't stuck with that first acoustic guitar part as long, but I thought the track as a whole was too good to alter with my sloppy editing skills.  I like how this sketch worked out though, and it'd be interesting to hear a fully produced version of the idea.
