I performed this set on the Rust Stage at Resonance Music & Arts Festival in Masontown, West Virginia on Friday, September 17, 2021. It was a privilege to spin drum and bass for a welcoming crowd at dusk atop a beautiful mountain.

In order to pack a proper punch for Rusted Rhythms Vol. 46, we felt compelled to team up with Phydra for a rambunctious hour of Drum and Bass anthems and rollers. Head of the @Danktronics record label, and having been previously featured through The Rust with his track "Exposure", the pairing could hardly be more natural, and Phydra's exquisite dive into the DnB spectrum hits the mark several times over.

Maneuvering from bass weight to melodic fluidity and back again, the mix is awash with rapid transitions, crushing breakdowns, and smooth-cruising liquid fundamentals. With clear control over mixability and a powerful and eclectic mix of tunes, Phydra's command of his DnB experience betrays the time and effort put into laying out a fluid mix with such demonstrable skill, and if it sent us into a tizzy, it's liable to send old fans and new ears into a full on frenzy.

I'm so grateful for all of you listening out there, and I took all my gratitude and pressure cooked it into a 30 minute mix of unreleased tunes. The vibe of the past few years for me has been heavy, yet soulful. Mellow, yet hype. I tried to reflect that in this mix. :)

With a bit of every music genre imaginable as his muse, crawdad sniper first brought his talents to the bass music scene in 2021. He has since gained well-deserved recognition and love that have only since snowballed in 2023. Based in Washington, D.C., crawdad sniper is not one to take genre boundaries (or anything in life) too seriously. His music nods to countless styles, from classic rock to indie psychedelic sounds. Fans can't help but appreciate the original and funny branding that goes along with weirdly wonderful sounds, which are exactly what you'll hear in his sound-design-focused and bass-filled discography.

This year has been full of wins for crawdad sniper, who has released two EPs with plenty of singles and SoundCloud bootlegs in between. Among them is his popular take on "Butthole Surfers" by Pepper, which takes the trophy of his most-listened track on SoundCloud. He's gotten to show off his groove-heavy flair on some crispy sound systems recently, from Sound Haven's mainstage to Elements Festival's Wub Hub stage. With upcoming performances at Submersion Festival and Autumn Revival still ahead of him, 2023 undoubtedly marks a breakout year as he hooks more fans at every stop.
