Thin, full of weeds, with his afro hair that is a sort of tribute to the black roots of a sound shared by funk and house, which make it look like a cloud of mushrooms! This is the way we love to describe it while playing sacred and deep grooves. Giacomo Pellegrino belongs to that particular category of people who knows the meaning of the word passion very well. He received his "Calling" for djing when he was only fourteen. Son of a musician, at that time he followed him in every concert, visiting the most important clubs and clubs in Sicily. Thanks to this, he developed a real passion for music and clubbing and, later, for djing. Although he is still too young to perform as a DJ at night, Giacomo started organizing some shows for his friends, playing sets focused on the dance music of the 70s and 80s, his first musical love.

Giacomo Pellegrino isn’t only a very talented dj and also a very successful producer, his music is supported by big names. and founder and owner of the Detroit Side and Vibe Experience vinyl only record labels with the best artists of the undergrond scene.

In recent years, the introductory texts for the Pop Ambient compilation series, which is released every year on Kompakt as the last release before the Christmas break, often began with the sentence "Every year again...".

“Every year again”, a quiet, almost unnoticed maxim of self-evidentness. Because this is already the 25th issue to be published this year.

25 years in increasingly fast-moving times in the even faster-moving music business is an eternity that doesn't just feel like it. It is all the more remarkable how I, as someone who is always restless and often driven by this fast pace himself, pleasantly almost haven’t realised how - in pop-ambient contexts - time does not pass (or passes differently) in the best sense.

When compiling the 25th edition I was asked, among other things, what it was like that I was still doing this and whether I had a favorite track. In the spirit of bringing all the tracks together I don't have a favorite track, or all of them. But I have a favorite part (moment) that I played. In this case it was a broad chord in a change of key at minute 2:55 in the piece Circles by Max Würden. A moment of majesty and familiarity that, at that moment, contains the entire Pop Ambient cosmos, that just works and doesn't explain anything - and I said: “...that's the reason why I'm still doing this.. .”

Pop Ambient is a statement without demands. Is promise without expectation. Is a path without a destination.         Every year again.

As always, the indispensable final mastering by Jörg Burger ensures that everything is brought together and the sound is fine-tuned.

And like every year, the 25th edition is of course wrapped in an abstract, floral magic creation by Veronika Unland. Over the years, the grace of her imagery has increasingly merged with the musical aura to form an unmistakable magical symbiosis.  In addition to the official vinyl and CD edition, there will be a limited edition of 100 pieces in transparent vinyl - including a hand-signed fine art print by Veronika Unland, available exclusively at Kompakt Mailorder.

For the first time on this planet Dial owner LAWRENCE shows up on an excursion to his beloved PAMPA imprint. The double feature "Kurama" presents two deepy enchanting anthems, a timeless vision of love. After touring around the globe with his new label mate DJ KOZE since ages, having the most successful release in Dial history with Kosi's Efdemin remix, sharing music with each other like crackbrained, it is not a big surprise for LAWRENCE to occur with two of his best pieces on PAMPA Records.

Well known for his releases on Mule Electronic, Ghostly International, Styrax and his own imprints Smallville, Dial and Laid, it was his first Mix CD on Cocoon Recordings "Timeless" which made Lawrence put some cats among the pigeons. With the new PAMPA again he has proved that the holy temple of deepness has to invite some flawy hypnotists once in a while to get clouded and shaken.

The number 09 is dedicated to two most famous experiences in Japan: The Kurama Mountain in Kyoto, one of the most amazing places on earth, and Oolong High, one of the most amazing drinks on earth- cold Oolong Tea on the rocks with a zip of japanese Shochu liquor. After KOZE and LAWRENCE had another few of these beverages again they started dreaming of this wonderful release.
