Handy 003 - Bobby Cazanova “Boy Psychology” 

​​Bobby opens his record with a nostalgic, catchy and euphoric A1- just what we have been yearning for after the 18 month hiatus from clubs. It’s a speedy emotive number with all the bells and whistles for a great time. Definitely one for the 6AM sunrise. 
The A2 is a sub aquatic bubbler. Low slung bass and rich strings lead this into a deep technical groover - Bobby has nailed the deja vu feeling of having heard this before, but never quite like this. 
Acid lines and driving bass finish up the A side with an absolute heater for those late nights.
On the "Nasty Side" the B1 brings another fast paced rhythm, this time capitalising on the darker side of Bobby’s mind, pulsating baselines and inquisitive synths create an emotive and well paced production that is sure to get people moving. 
Rounding off the EP is a darker piece. Glistening pads and pensive arpeggiation make this a slow but sure burner for the dance floor.

With previous releases on Delusions of Grandeur, Voyeurythm and more, UK producer Ben Sun delivers a gorgeous blend of deep textures that hearken back to the golden era of NY and Chicago with his ‘Distant Messenger EP’ on Razor-N-Tape.

The A-side, ‘Transmission’ has all the vibey goodness of an early Strictly Rhythm record, while ‘Sable Sun’ scuba dives into Larry Heard territory with lush pad swells and squelching acid lines. On the flip, the emotive motion of ‘Tremors’ builds through hypnotic arpeggiated synths, a slow-rolling bassline and crystalline melodies, and the record finishes in proto-house territory with the Peech Boys era Larry Levan inspired ‘Red Light’. This EP may wear its influences on its sleeve, but it looks (and sounds) classy as hell.

Maybe Once Upon a Time (Sleepy Snoozy Vol. 1 Mango)

@art-alfie, the eminent Swedish mastermind of unconditionally funky house blesses us with the privilege of two of his somewhat “out-there” house tracks. Two functional tools with maximum wonky-ness that will completely obliterate dance floors. The EP is released by Bigges District — a label run by Stockholm producers Ari Bald, Gudding and CJ Scott. Art Alfie’s enrollment on the label’s digital imprint DIGGES is a follow up on the series “Klubbdubbar”. 

The EP takes off with ”Diana” — a house gadget made in collaboration with Måns Glaeser. “Diana”s ringing and chronometric synthesizer sounds and latin infused bass line stipulates a hefty and arid groove filled with color. On the flip “Libido Rising” enters. The tracks crooked and precarious character tosses the listener into a chaotic and tumultuous disposition. A brusque and wandering bassline accompanied by sprightly and agile jazz infused percussion culminates into this vigorous number.
