Art of the Possible: Towards an International Antifascist Feminist Front. Writer Angela Dimitrakaki and theorist Antonia Majaca were invited by visual artist Sanja Iveković to animate her Monument to Revolution installed in Athens in the context of Documenta 14. The original monument in Berlin (in memory of Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht) was destroyed by the Nazis. The new monument is set symbolically in Athens where the struggle against capitalism is rife. Thirty international feminist contributors, individuals or collectives, were asked to send a short recording on fascism and the importance of feminist struggle against it. The multi-lingual collection of recordings is scored by sound sculptor AGF. Intro by Angela Dimitrakaki AGF (@poemproducer) assembled, scored, mixed the contributions and broadcasted on #Documenta14 #savvyfunk radio on 28 June 2017

Experimental sound platform VAMP Sonic returns to Threads Radio this month with a deep dive into legendary experimental American label Orange Milk Records. Keith Rankin (whose music alias is Giant Claw) has run the imprint for over a decade with his good friend Seth Graham out of Ohio USA, building a solid reputation as pushing the boundaries on a myriad of genres, from Glitch to 80s synthesis, pop to vaporwave, right down to prog rock. The excitement of trying new things is felt in each release (which are frequent, sometimes 2 or 3 in one month) in both the sound and accompanying visual artwork. 

The label has had a big influence in shaping the sound of VAMP Sonic since the project started in 2019. Tune in to hear founder Syd Carlisle delve into this iconic label, mixing together tracks from across the discography in unexpected ways and sharing some insights into the making of each release, and her choices of their selection in the mix. #SoundThatBites

VAMP Sonic w/ Syd Carlisle: Orange Milk special (*Hackney) - 01-Feb-24

Ruth is a vocal artist and composer/producer from County Tyrone in Ireland. Her vocal work
spans through choral - opera - folk - electronic drone - drum and bass. She appears on a
multitude of releases as a vocalist. Ruth returned to Ireland in 2020, following a decade in
London of which she spent the last five years as a lead vocalist in Nyx Electronic Drone Choir
and Three Dollar Shoe (folk band).


In Ireland, Ruth is a funeral singer at Catholic services. Having experienced the impact that
providing this service has on those in the early stages of bereavement, she has now taken a
deep dive into the art of keening and how the voice assists the bereaved in their grief. Swaddle,
with Becky O’Brien, is her first keening work. She intends to deliver something beautiful that will
cut through the pain and shame felt by the victims of this scandal and commemorate the
innocent young lives and the souls of those who were lost.
