Carolina manages the Brazilian outfit - @vedanarecords - whose Santos parties and VA releases have sent waves through the international minimal community. 

The name Vedana reflects a Buddhist concept of unifying physical and mental feeling. Vedana is interpreted by its founders as the “exact moment when the body is filled with the joy that only music provides.” 

As a label - they reach this visceral combination of mental and physical stimulation is achieved in by their curation and production of intricate percussion, immersive soundscape and stylistic variety to keep the listener guessing what’s coming next.

“There are many past conditionings and habits that are associated with DJing,” Alegre mentioned at the end of his interview, “and being around friends that constantly reinforce those habits is not helping. That’s something I haven’t told really anyone yet. I had these thoughts about two years ago when I was going through a significant shift, and now they are appearing again.”

“I’ve had times when I’ve asked myself what I am doing here with this DJing, and I told myself that if I wanted to keep doing this I had to establish a strong base, why am I doing this. To summarize I needed something that was greater than myself, has a quality of giving back to humanity and people around. 
~
“Try to take something away from that—I think I’d say a job of a DJ is to harmonize the gathering of people, with the frequencies and combinations of sounds that are new to the listener. In return, people’s mind can open up to new possibilities and ways of thinking or perceiving his/her surroundings. [The] DJ is there to provide a soundtrack tot he gathering that is taking place, where one can let his/her imagination run wild and just enjoy the moment. But that’s just my opinion anyway.

“My message is freedom of expression and creativity. Feel good, warm and fuzzy inside where everyone can join and share happiness of being alive and in union at that moment. 
~
“After all, music and dance [have] always been a form of worship to a greater force behind the creation; I like to honor and remember that as much as I can, and hope that translates to the audience.”
~
And indeed, the sounds of a nostalgic future, washed in spectral light, pay deep reverence to the abstract listening experience. Throughout the mix, we are taken back repeatedly to chilled out breakbeat grooves that don’t gravitate towards your expected “club atmosphere”, but rather to an internal and deeply personal experience that asks the listener to go deeper within and envision a future of harmony with oneself and those around them.

“I think by now the color that I naturally attract towards is pale/yellow-orange color,” Jones relates. “I haven’t established this as a concrete thought but now that I think, I can see it.”

“At this point I feel like giving a break from collecting records and focus on creation process and production experimentation. But my overall vision and message behind the tracks I’ve made is 'Consciousness Evolution & Expansion'. I think I never established that kind of question for myself and it’s a good time to do it now. Thank You.”

“Hahaha MY challenge is my mind. I could leave just that sentence and drop the mic at this point.”

“Seriously though, learning how to think, and balance your thoughts and actions in a healthy manner—I think that goes along anything that I do. That being said, I think my higher self has been telling me to ditch the DJing and collecting records, make space for new things that I have taken upon myself. Simply let some attachments go—after all, I’ve been doing this for some time (around 8 years).”
