Kitsta announces new label Megababes, with trance-tinged two-tracker

The title track opens the release with stuttered vocals, rolling drums and bewitching sirens. A retro vocal beckons, welcoming the listener to a deep and intense breakdown before descending into a dancefloor frenzy. ‘Miss Bliss’ follows suit, its bassline chugging along interweaving synths, forming dreamlike melodies perfect for building the dancefloor and the after-hours.

Few combine glittery euphoric motifs with dark undertones as well as Yorkshire artist Kitsta. Now London-based, she's continuing to hone her sound with her music finding a home on labels such as Fly By Night Recordings, Gimme A Break, as well as her own newly established Megababes imprint. She also co-runs The Beatriarchy, a platform dedicated to uplifting underrepresented DJ’s.

Favør (he/him) is a Danish producer & DJ, currently based in Tbilisi. Favør is part of the Copenhagen based DJ & event crew ‘Sweetie’ together with Denna, Cirkeline, and Tusnelda. Sweetie organizes safe-space parties in Copenhagen, and they have presented artists such as Sansibar, Maara, Maruwa, Gavnlig, and B From E. Favør has released music since 2019, and on November 1 he will release his first EP, EP 1.

When we approached the talented Shahd for the artwork of this fundraising release, an essential question echoed on how we want to depict our support for Palestine. The first instinct was to delve into darkness, mirroring the grim reality in Gaza. However, we decided that our mission here is to showcase the beauty of Palestine and the wilful spirit of its people. Despite being trapped in a besieged city, they continue living with unwavering resilience. Yet, with each day passing, even this resilience is systematically being eroded, ending up in renewed chaos since October 7th.

Palestine is not just a land of struggle but a land rich in history, arts, and cultures. It is also the birthplace of unique electronic music and hip-hop artists, artists who have forged a music scene founded on the desire to unite people and break free from oppression.

A very special thanks to Cem Mo, ICTV, Nephews, Nesta, Retromigration, S.A.M., Sandilé, and Sarab for their contributions to this vital cause. Finally, a shout-out to founder of Jazar crew, Ayed, for his constant support and inspiration. 
All proceeds will go to the Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP).

Funkinhell and Gipsy Radio, two Italian artists bound by a friendship of over a decade, have finally come together after years of living in different cities to create their first EP together. From the very beginning of this musical journey, they had a clear goal: to craft something that would encapsulate the sounds and musical styles that have most influenced them throughout their careers. This is how Blitz Risk was born, an EP that pays tribute to the electronic music of the '80s and '90s, created with analog synthesizers, distorted drums, arpeggios, and minimal use of effects.

We're absolutely DELIGHTED to start the mushroom foraging season with a very fungal EP by the multidisciplinary artist @neptuneb 🍄🌱 his productions, in his music as well as in his paintings, sends us on a galactic trip in a colourful and chaotic cosmic landscape ✨ it's a mesmerising universe we're proud to have grown in our garden 💚 with a remix from our syndic @vitaline, this 4-track Break EP is a beautifully produced and trippy piece of music, we hope you enjoy it as much as we do 🍄💚

'Interdimensional Propulsion' sets the tone for the trippy journey we're about to embark on: a break, progressive & acid bass overrides the whole track and builds into a nostagic melody. The next track, 'Meteorite Spray', has a more atmospheric and tribal vibe to it, though the broken beat and acid line maintains the energy and the flow throughout the track. 'Infared Data Collection' (feat. T!M) pursues the groove previously set, but embellished with T!M's soft and melancholic guitar reef and spacey cosmic pads, creating a beautiful Progressive track. The EP ends with @vitaline's remix of 'Interdimensional Propulsion', onto which she brilliantly added a Latin bassy twist, making it more club-oriented but maintaining the track's trippy undertone. 🍄

Continuing the trend of breaking new artists, Klasse Recordings returns with a fresh new EP from equally fresh new artists. FJAAK are a three-piece production and DJ outfit hailing from Berlin. Young and full of energy these newcomers turn in a stunningly original and well-crafted EP that is well beyond their years.

The Remember Me EP kicks off with its title track, an all analogue journey into a trippy underworld of arpeggio basslines and wonky pads. Robotic voices boldly repeat refrains whilst synths fight for space over a cantankerous groove. The track drops twice with great effect, making a great use of space and suspense.

Small Gadget heads towards darker territories, sitting somewhere in between House, Techno and UK Rhythms the track builds itself around a huge pulsing bassline. Minimal in its construction, Small Gadget's strength lies in its functionality and those spaces inbetween the sounds. This is a guaranteed dancefloor destroyer.

Seven Miles High is the deepest of the three originals, warm pads and dreamy stabs create an intro that effortlessly transports the listener to a lowdown and nasty bassline. FJAAK once again utilize broken beats and off-kilter rhythms to their advantage, the resulting track is a fantastic mix of deep, raw and groovy elements.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Clone Recordings regular Arttu to Klasse. The now Berlin-based Fin turns in two remixes for the Remember Me EP. Remix Number One is a blistering and fuzzy trip into the mind of Arttu and his synthetic friends, a detuned melody repeats over playful drum machine grooves whilst the original pads sit over the track. Remix Number One is available only on the KLS026 vinyl.

Arttu's Remix Number Two is a different beast altogether, aimed squarely at a deranged dancefloor somewhere in the future the track relies on the original's hooky melody. Arttu takes the original parts and mangles them together with distortion and hiss, shuffling snares and random hi hats create a manic groove that only the loosest can get down to.

Second up for the remix team is American producer and WT Records owner Willie Burns, Mr. Burns' work has recently been showcased on L.I.E.S, Clone and Trilogy Tapes and we're very lucky to have him on board for KLS026. Sounding like a long-forgotten Italo-Electro-EBM crossover hit, Willie Burns' re-works the arpeggios and vocals into a much darker and spooky direction....direct and straight to the point, the remix wastes no time getting stuck into the thick of it.
