If you think about oppositeland, the first things that come to mind are for instance: Every one is walking backwards, every thing is upside down, you talk in an opposite language and you are wearing your clothes inside out.

But if you think about it a little longer you'll soon discover that it goes a bit deeper. Your senses will get messy as well, you can hear smelly things and taste sound waves and amplitudes. Eventually you’ll learn that there is actually nothing in oppositeland, that we do have in normal life. And vice versa. All of life’s impossible-to-answer-questions will be answered in oppositeland. At the same time oppositeland can describe a less abstract story about the present and the future, where all natural life is left behind and everything is turned in mechanical and synthetic material.

Phole is a producer and pianist from Groningen, in the North of the Netherlands. At 18 he got his first piano lessons and a year later started to produce downtempo beats as "Phole". Inspired by the piano lessons Phole became interested in jazz, which you can hear in his first trip-hop EP "Pleasing.” At the moment Phole is inspired by more experimental music, and has created a unique collaboration with "Brombaer" called Globo, Since spring 2011 he is working on a new album called "Philosophy of opposite land" which will be out May 7th.

AJ Kwame and Joseph 2 Grand are the Runaways UK, a duo who have spent their Musical partnership on the run from musical mediocrity. The pair met in Brighton in 1991, forming the visionary outfit RPM (or Revolution Per Minute) a year later. RPM released a string of singles on the fledgling Mo Wax imprint, and toured Europe alongside James Lavelle and DJ Shadow.

AJ’s wide- ranging musical abilities and Joe’s deck wrecking skills leant RPM a unique edge as a plethora of ‘Trip hop’ groups rose in their wake. In 1995 AJ & Joe changed both name and label, becoming the Runaways UK and finding a new home in Ultimate Di-lemma Recordings in the UK and Three Sixty Records in the USA.

Highly acclaimed singles led the way to their debut LP Classic Tales, a musical tour de force that was the culmination of the Runaways UK quest to forge a truly British hip-hop sound. The album featured striking cover art in the form of a painting of a calming, typically English pastoral scene.

This attention to presentation has been carried over to Progress, their 2nd album, where the duo have enlisted the help of the Turner Prize winning artist Chris Ofili in exclusively providing a unique cover artwork.

This album also features a diverse collection of very special guests Masta Ace, Iriscience, J zone, Tiye Phoenix, Sylvia Powell and Matt Cooper(Outside). The Runaways UK and their music have travelled worldwide and forged relationships with a host of like-minded artists.

Their golden remix touch has graced tracks from DJ Zinc, Doctor L and Emiliana Torrini, Cyclops 4000 Sir Menelik/Scaramanga/Chewbacca Uncircumcised etc), Mos Def and Talib Kweli, Kid Loco, Killer Priest, Flash and the Pan, Belles of Monica, Pressure Drop. Sometimes while looking for music for the radio show I find these gems. This time it was a Studio Brussels re-work of the Metaform track Electric Eyes. With over 1.1 million plays on Last FM alone, it’s safe to say Metaform’s first two releases have gone down very well. 

Metaform (born Justice Aaron) is an American music producer, musician, and songwriter, who gained Insta-respect with the release of his highly acclaimed debut album “Standing on the Shoulders of Giants.” In 2010, he released a 2nd album entitled "The Electric Mist." The track Electric Eyes is from this Release, with Studio Brussels playing around in the half time, creating a classic indie dubstep styled re-work.

Jack Dey aka Studio Brussels is a 25 year old Scottish Producer, DJ, Remixer & Musician who performs under the aliases Kool Roskii (Originals) & Studio Brussels (Remixes, DJ Sets). Based in Aberdeen, he released a selection of remixes under the Studio Brussels name in late 2009 - 2012 of artists including Yeasayer, Kavinsky, Muse, Amanda Palmer, Reel 2 Real, John Martyn, Baby’s Gang, Lady Gaga producer Space Cowboy, which garnered frequent press attention around the world and tens of thousands of downloads, and three times in the Top Ten most popular songs chart on the worlds biggest music blog aggregator The Hype Machine.
