The freestyle-like song, "No Lessons" was one of two demos recorded at Erinem's first Atlanta recording session, in January of 2020. This one was never officially distributed, or ever released at all until now.

ARTIST NOTE: 

The recording engineer for this project was Randem Word at 12 Studio in ATL -- shout out to Randem, who taught me to always think about the moon when I record my vocals. Lol. So, here it is... raw and fresh out the studio. I left it exactly the way the engineer sent it to me after my session... this has been collecting dust on my hard drive since then. I'm glad this shit's gonna see the light of day after all. If this song does especially well on here, I might take the time to mix and master it. We'll see. :)

"Altered" is a non-distributed mixtape by Erinem.

This entire album was made in just one week. This was not my choice by any means -- as I prefer to take my time with everything, because I'm kind of a hopeless perfectionist. 

At the time of these recordings, I was working with a consultant, who ended up being just another worthless crook. As so many are.  This project was forced to be brought to completion in just one week, at the demand of this consultant. 

I don't know how I managed it, to be honest. But, it's my philosophy that even when something is very, very, hard... it's not ever truly impossible. "Hard, but not impossible" became the running theme of this album, both in process and in product. 

This album was actually written and recorded in the second week of June, 2020. While this consultant made a thousand excuses to me, this album sat on my hard drive and collected dust. It just was never "the right time" or whatever. 

"Altered" was recorded at Loud House Studios in Atlanta Georgia, June 2020. I would not recommend that studio, to be honest with you all. 

However, at the time I wasn't calling the shots for myself, so, things like that tended to be out of my control. The original projects were so badly engineered, it took an engineering genius to sort through it all and re-route everything correctly. 

I have to give a special shout out to *Guy Bartov* the extraordinary, prodigious producer and audio engineer who saved this project, and resurrected it from the state it had been left in. 

I also want to give credit to the album art artist, who did a PERFECT job bringing to life the imagery I had in mind. Her name is Jenn Nolasco, and she's insanely talented. 

This project is a tribute to self reliance, and to lessons learned (even if they have to be learned the hard way). I'm done trusting others to hold my hand and lead me to my destiny. Instead, I've cleaned house and released this project (along with my officially distributed album, "The Gambit") all on my own. 

Even a year later, I'm still glad this album is getting out there. Hard work deserves to see the light of day.

That's right - I don't edit (as in cut or paste) or move any vocals in post. 
I have no idea how to edit vocals in fruity loops, although I want to learn. Ugh but that program is SO hard to use. This *IS* my first time using audio effects in digital audio software though, so hopefully it came out ok. I'm fumbling around in several different audio workspace programs trying to get effect sounds to work right, but in the end, I'm not sure what I'm doing most of the time. Good way to learn though. :-/

This is my latest single. I wrote it, rapped it, produced the skit intro, and finessed the beat. The beat was just a basic arpeggiated sequence for the verse and a guitar lick for the chorus when I got it from a producer friend (No1MC) — everything else you hear in the beat is something I added to it. 

This song is meant to celebrate the tradition of storytelling in traditional hip hop lyricism. Obviously, it’s a work of fiction. 

This song was actually the unintended prequel to a (unreleased) song called “Still On The Run” that I made years ago, when I was first starting out.

This is my impression of that Watsky kid who was blowing up back then. His whole gimmick was he was white, AND he could "rap fast" ... lol bruh.

This is EXACTLY what he sounds like. If  you don't like it, lighten up. I cover it like I see it, man. But in this case, I rapped it just for fun. And at 120% tempo, because his "fast" rapping was putting me to sleep.

Erinem is a female hip hop artist, based out of East Harlem, NYC, but has recently relocated back to her birthplace in Texas. Born Erin Emily Wheeler, Erinem gets her artist name from a combination of her first and middle name. She originally went by the artist name Emcee Erin Emily, which was eventually shortened to Emcee Erin Em, then Emcee ErinEm, and eventually became just Erinem.

Influenced heavily by artists out of Aftermath, and the golden era of hip hop, Erinem is poised to make her mark on the mainstream. Erinem makes every part of the songs she releases, from making the beat to producing the track, to writing the lyrics (no exceptions). She is known to be a perfectionist, and she obsesses over the details. Erinem was almost on a totally different path in life, going to an Ivy League grad school in NYC for poetry, which she called a “mute art” and found that it never really fulfilled her. Living there in East Harlem, she found hip hop. She quit her job, sold her apartment, and moved back home to Texas to be able to pursue music full time, which she has done for the last 6 years, in which time she as an artist has experienced tremendous growth.

In that time she has worked with notable artists, including a feature from Bizarre of D12. She stands by lyricism, hard work, and integrity in your field. She believes in long hours, a focused working environment and isn't driven by a need for money or fame. She’s often heard saying, "I just want to work with my peers."
