Max Julian Eastman - The Glamorous Life C40 (excerpts)

Recorded during the Autumn of 2023 amidst fluctuating extreme states of tension and tranquility, Canadian artist Paul van Trigt delivers 30 minutes of thoughtfully spliced cassette and reel loops, amplified objects, homemade oscillators, and lute. By using both sounds collected from a place that was once home but is no longer, as well as sounds from a place that is new and foreign, Remains is a work which deftly balances moments of shrieking anxiety and exhausted frustration with calmer, more contemplative passages. Sorceress is the first collaboration between Swedish outsider experimentalists Sewer Election and Incipientium. Dan Johansson, a veteran of the Gothenburg underground, and relative newcomer Gustav Danielsbacka have meticulously woven a strange tapestry of unnerving sound. Using tape decks, broken records, reel-to-reel loops, electronic elements, metals, and ambient field recordings, they evoke everything from the sparse and fleeting to the more abrasive and heavy. Recorded in the autumn of 2021, mixed by Johansson and Danielsbacka, and mastered by Grant Richardson, Sorceress is 42 minutes of pure avant-garde electronics. Inspired by the primordial earth and unseen cosmic forces, the album’s two side-long tracks, “Cycle” and “Decay,” channel violent energies exploring  the ongoing relationship between disintegration and renewal. Dark Energy Era is a sonic exploration of the liminal—an attempt to tune into energies just beyond conscious perception. The result is HEAVY, fractured, and deeply atmospheric.

Kate Rissiek - Dark Energy Era C50 (excerpts)

After releasing several EPs and singles via Berlin-based labels Mannequin Records and aufnahme + wiedergabe, 2025 finds Joshua Strachan releasing two full length records as Desolation Colony. The first, A Rapture of Blooming Revenge, was released on Phage Tapes in May and sketched a post-extinction far future of expansive and disturbing proportions. The Impossibility Of Haunting A Barren World for Throne Heap finds the project putting aside its aggressive beat-driven sound for a more abstract, textural approach. Mixed by Kris Lapke (Alberich), mastered by Grant Richardson, and featuring contributions from Thomas Boettner (Straight Panic, Secret Historian) and auxiliary statics from Tom Moore, The Impossibility Of Haunting A Barren World presents yet another stark vision of impending collapse. It's a ruthless exploration of the psychologies and technologies of modern necropolitics conducted with grinding analog electronics and abrasive collaged samples. Death is not a dramatic spectre in these proceedings, but an unassuming footsoldier of inevitable consequence: "Everything ends at my feet, nothing as it began."
