Explaining Myself by Qwamenah is the reflective account of a recovering approval addict. In life, nothing frightens the human heart more than being rejected for being imperfect, and one way of fighting against that is explaining why mistakes were made. In this poem, he admits his weakness in doing this too much, and ultimately exposes it for its pride-centeredness.
