This song is from the soundtrack for my novel Guitar Notes (Egmont USA, 2012). The book is about two teens who discover a profound connection through songwriting. They form a band and call it The Thrum Society. I wrote and recorded eight songs that a part of the book. 

In the novel, the two songwriters challenge and inspire each other to write songs. This song is the sixth song in the book and it's a song about falling in love for the first time. The girl, who is a classically trained, dares the boy to write a waltz. He writes the music first. When he shares it with her, she blurts out a possible lyric line: "I like the sound of your name in my ear." She's embarrassed at first because she has a crush on him and isn't sure if the feeling is mutual. He tells her that he likes it, and they collaborate on creating a love song. It's a sweet scene in the book. After they finish writing the lyrics, she teaches him how to sing harmony. They call their The Pomegranate Waltz, which is an inside joke for them. I think when two people are flirting and falling in love, they often have inside jokes that help to connect them. You have to read the book!   

The book is getting great reviews. From Kirkus: "this one will resonate." It's also being translated into German and French.
