“So You Say (Dirty Tape Heads Mix)” elevates a sweeping disco loop into acid house heaven with a euphoric 303 bassline and hypnotic string sample refractions. The cloudscapes form into more precise patterns on “Wheel”, a filter house jam tweaked to maximum peak-induced joy. Together, both sides of Matt Karmil’s 12” triumph over terrestrial concerns and relish in the heady pleasures of pure house music.

Each 12″ from Beats in Space Records features original artwork in considerate and serial form. Susumu Mukai animates and extrapolates hieroglyphics of yesterday’s dancefloor into the geometrically inclined cover art. The 12″ packaging constructed by Will Work For Good features a removable vinyl BIS logo cling.

Let’s face it, summer in New York City is sweltering. Even with all the windows open and fans on high, it is hard to find refuge in Alliance Upholstery’s Chinatown offices. Today’s sweat though, is due to the “Dancer on the Shore” EP, the latest release by the Brooklyn based band, Lemonade (Cascine/True Panther Sounds). “Dancer” is a subdued summertime collage of steel drums, buoyant electronic pads and windswept vocals. Joined by Dee Dee from Dum Dum Girls, it is a celebration of the space where humans and nature exist in harmony. Originally released digitally as a single on Cascine in 2015, the band created a DJ friendly extended mix for this release. If you have been to the “Air A Dancer” party over the last few seasons, you have likely already heard it (sometimes twice in one night!). If that wasn’t enough to pique your interest, the remixes put this one over the top. First, the Jex Opolis (Good Timin’/Running Back) Dub picks it up in his Cutlass Supreme (look at his Kingdom, look at his car) with a full day of activities planned. Top down, wind in your hair, cooler full of ice, spf a million; this is Eddie Grant approved dub at beach. Think California Style in Long Island. After sundown, the Whatever/Whatever (Justin Strauss and Bryan Mette) mix builds a bonfire in the dunes. Hard hitting drums and soaring synths make this mix perfect for dancing all night and howling at the moon. As the night gives way to morning, Jex’s vocal remix wipes the sand off your feet, finds your lost t-shirt, and gets you ready for new day.

DC Promo Tracks #255: Chris Coco "La Naturaleza"

There should be a new name for Norwegian balearica as they are hitting the sweet spot every time. This EP is no exception, with its retro analogue sounds touching on Ibiza, Italo, soundtrack and all the good stuff.

The Telemark Express is a collaboration between Norway's Kjetil Lagesen aka Kellini, an up and coming disco producer and familiar name on the Nordic scene, Jarle Bråthen. Periodically they both have 'writer's block' but when they hit the studio together, these obstacles fade away and the magic emerges.

Epic Proportions starts things off at a pace with its bubbling arpeggiator, congas and 4/4 beat that build, before the epic synths takes things to space disco heaven.

Inflatable Ego goes full balearic with its reggae lilt, stringless flanged bass and selection of analogue synths. Close your eyes and it could be 1986 in Amnesia as Alfredo drops that dubbed out Demis Roussos B-side everyone's been banging on about.

The title track goes deep with a nagging synth and swells that lay underneath Vangelis like synths as they pick out their melody.

Bright Future keeps the squelchy bass with uplifting chords to send the sun down in to the Med as you move on to your third Long Island Ice Tea.
