His edit barely gives you a second to breathe before sharp and jagged synths come cutting through, kicking things off with a clear statement of intent.

Paying homage to the legendary Berlin club Berghain Drum Jack is tribal tech in its naughtiest form and the 2008 original is resurrected for this 2015 edit. Kicking off in a raucous and unrelenting fashion, the track gets more and more out-there as it progresses, moving into a deep dark relentless club monster. Press play on this i-D exclusive.

The time has come to blow out another candle on the cake, this time around Crossfrontier Audio is turning 4 years old... and we’re keeping up steam to blow out more! Customary with every birthday bash we throw, this year we’ve doubled up with a label showcase at Amsterdam Dance Event, and a 2-part special release celebrating four years of your favourite Berlin based label.

Through the many moments that have made our label, this year has been no different for pushing our sound passionately across the World’s dance-floors, festivals and beyond. Over the last 12 months we’ve had 12 releases, including EP’s from key artists MUUI and Yoram, we’ve had Jonas Saalbach and THe WHite SHadow blow everyone out of the park with killer releases, Amentia and Foreign Guest gave us remarkable debuts, MUUI and Marc Poppcke gave us their long-awaited debut albums, and if that wasn’t enough, we teamed up with some of the best in the game to give you some deadly remixes from the likes of Einmusik, Solee, Los Suruba and Rashid Ajami – what a year!

You’d think with turning 4, it’d be easy to sit back and enjoy the ride? Yet Crossfrontier Audio won’t stop, we’re gearing up for another year and we’re gunning for our 50th release too! The next of which is a mix of label favourites and exciting new artists who feature on our 2-part 4 Years of Crossfrontier Audio, due for release mid of October – stay in the mix as you will not be disappointed, with a nod to the past and a look to the future, we certainly have a few surprises for you.

Lastly, we’d like to thank everyone involved with us over the last 4 years thus far, be it an avid listener, a DJ playing out our signature sound, or one of the many creative artists we work with – it’s you who we do it for, and we’ll continue crossing frontiers.

Last November, we brought back the Four Points concept, which dates all the way back to 2008. The updated package contained a remix from Loco & Jam and original tracks from Belocca, Kellie Allen, and Sleepy & Boo. Now, we’re following that package up with Four Points II, with four fresh new tracks from some top producers from entirely new parts of the world.

Kicking things off is DJ T. with his remix of Sharam & Chance Caspian’s “Morning Glory,” originally from the 2016 album Retroactive. DJ T.’s mix is just what you’d expect from the legendary Berlin DJ. It’s bouncy and groovy, a nice builder that falls squarely into house territory. Khainz brings the heat with “Acrux,” a typically epic techno squelcher from the Luzern-based artist, and he proves once again that his chops in the studio are second-to-none. Miami up-and-comers Wolf Story are up next with “Time,” which harkens back to the progressive house-meets-vocals sound that is so classic Yoshitoshi. It’s one that routinely puts dance floors in a trance. And finally, our main man in Athens CJ Jeff serves up another beautiful vocal track with “So Far From Home,” which has received the edit treatment from Sharam. This package is diverse and dynamic with no shortage of peak moments. In other words, it’s quintessential Yoshi.

PREMIERE: Khainz - Acrux (Original Mix) [Yoshitoshi]

German duo Monkey Safari have finally released their powerful debut album ‘Odyssey’ after years of touring around the world’s dance floors. Now, the group have followed up with not one, not two, but three remix EPs and Mixmag has grabbed hold of Tensnake’s take on the title track. Tensnake explained that his take was inspired by the track’s vocals, which led him to take a 90s, industrial vibe. Odyssey’s second remix EP is out July 13th.

The world was his, a tall tale which would explain the story, how he learned to stop thinking. 

Third Son is set to release a new EP on Polymath, a well balanced EP which showcases a sense of versatility and breadth in sound. The release is forthcoming and is hotly anticipated.
