His productions have become the talk of the town with praise being tossed around by everyone from Pete Tong and DJ Sneak to A-Trak. Hit output for the esteemed Exploited imprint in 2012, kicking off with the infection “Cream,” started the revolution gaining top ten honors on the Beatport chart. Since that release Claptone has gone from strength to strength. “Wrong”, “Night On Fire”, “Good To You” and "No Eyes" being prime examples.

I fucking love Tuesdays. Said nobody ever. So to brighten up your Tuesday afternoon we have a nice little treat for you in the form of an exclusive mix from the mystery wrapped in an enigma himself: Claptone.

Little is known about the DJ/Producer with his biography describing him thus: "In a now long forgotten world, many generations ago, a bird like shape emerged from wooded dark- ness, floating and fluttering, drifting and dreaming. Backlit by a bright glow of iridescent light, the undecipherable form wore a dazzling golden mask. Its long beak swooped down like an inverted horn and since then, people have referred to the mythical being simply as Claptone."

Whether or not that is a true account remains open to debate (although we'd put nothing past the avian-mask wearing maestro) but what we can confirm is that he has delivered yet another storming mix for us at Data Transmission ahead of touching down in London at Electric Brixton for Tube & Berger’s much anticipated Deeper Sessions on February 21.

Taking its lead from the distinct musical styles at Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel’s two venues – The Club and The Tower – The Unexpected Sessions Vol. 1 brings you cutting edge dance music from across the spectrum; the first disc packed with pure, uplifting party anthems while the second drops the BPMs for a deep excursion through the very finest house music around.

On CD1 you’ll find some of the biggest names in EDM dropping hit after uplifting hit, including Alesso’s ‘Crash’, Hard Rock Sofa & Swanky Tunes ‘Here We Go’ and the huge Iban Reus remix of Todd Terry’s seminal ‘Jumping’. Also included are Dirty South & Deniz Koyu ‘Halo’ and Michael Woods ‘Platinum Chains’; a suitably epic finale to a mix that starts big and doesn’t let up for the duration.

The pace is brought down on CD2, with uber-stylish deep house very much the name of the game. The track list is no less impressive though; kicking off with Candi Staton ‘Hallelujah Anyway’ (Ashley Beedle’s Yardism Vocal) – arguably one of the most impressive deep house records of recent memory – the mix moves through cuts from house music royalty Solomon, Jamie Jones and Flashmob. Also includes are two records destined to be summer anthems; FCL ‘It’s You’ – easily the most hyped record of the last few months – and the stunning Follow The Step (KiNK Mix) from Rachel Row.
