This is our first mixtape and it is designed for a certain mood and (maybe) for headphones. 
Most of this music is from Sweden, or has been remixed by someone from Sweden. 
The last track is remixed by Royksopp so it is a little bit Norwegian too.  It’s a Scandinavian mixtape... 
Anyway, the songs are all 100% awesome but we messed around with them to make them 101% awesome.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: The blood, sweat, and tears of 30+ human beings, who bore their souls to make this mix possible.  A good solid chunk of techno/house music, both new and old.  

USES: Use of this mix is unadvised if it is referred to as “Trance” or “Deep”.  People who feel the only good records are those that came out within the last 5 (working days), should not use this mix.  People who wear scarves in August (unless you specifically live in the Southern Hemisphere or the North Pole, in which case, please also use a jacket), should not use this mix.  People who have frequent urges to hold their mobile phones to request songs from DJs should not use this mix.  People who feel they are electronic music aficionados because they have been to Electric Daisy Carnival, and anyone that thinks image is more important than substance, should not use this mix.  Lastly, people who feel it is pretentious to say who should and shouldn’t listen to this mix...you’re totally right!!

DIRECTIONS: Please respect the music and listen on a proper soundsystem or headphones, those listening on laptop speakers or headphones that came free with your mp3 device will not experience any of the benefits of the mix; those using Beats by Dre will only experience partial benefits. 
Listen once daily as needed.  Increased dosage on Mondays and Wednesdays is highly recommended to combat general malaise of ‘early week boredom’. On a serious note - we know we don't put out many promo or live recorded mixes - so when we first started thinking about this year's mix we knew it had to be special. Berlin-based Curses brings a romantic edge to the dance floor, blending 80's New Wave, the darker side of Italo-Disco and flashes of EBM with his own ghostly vocals.

The debut album from Curses, 'Romantic Fiction' dropped on Jennifer Cardini's Dischi Autunno imprint in October 2018, launching his live act which brings the guitars, vocals and energy of the album to stage as a duo. Whether it's DJng in the main room at Circoloco DC-10, or performing live at festivals like, Nuits Sonores, Curses brings punk and new wave energy to all dance floors of any size.
Curses has also released on labels such as Permanent Vacation, Bordello A Parigi, Oráculo Records, and Wrong Era, and curated a double- LP vinyl compilation (NEXT WAVE ACID PUNX) Via Belgian powerhouse, N.E.W.S, showcasing a passion for New Beat, Early EBM, Post-punk and obscure Italo which gained critical acclaim worldwide. The 2nd album, 'Incarnadine' returned to Dischi Autunno in April, 2022, with a special edition vinyl in collaboration with Parisian Fashion brand, Saint Laurent.

Curses continues to bring a romantic and punk energy to the club, threading the ethereal nostalgia of the 80s and 90s into the future of now.

The two hours twist and turn through multiple genres, yet at the heart of the mix - forever a deep, feverish, and driving pulse. A nascent purveyor of dark electronica and cutting-edge disko in all its forms, Australian DJ/ producer and visual artist Kate Stein is grooving her way into the good graces of underground circles around the globe.  Kate’s dynamic and fun approach to soundscapes in full bloom - unafraid of taking risks, she draws deep appreciation from post punk, minimal wave, neu-rave and chuggy house music.

Known for her hypnotic rhythms, driving percussion, and arcane melodies - Kate has released on labels including TAU, Rotten City Records, Roam, and Playground.  2024 is set to be a big year for Kate, with the launch of her own label 99FVR.  The offbeat and indie driven imprint will kick off with her 5th EP “SNAFU” in April (with remixes from Mala Ika and Neu Romancer + Radondo).

3 QUESTIONS to MADMOTORMIQUEL:

Q: Your mix shows influences from Beats and Hip-Hop. When did you come to electronic music and why?

A: I have  been collecting records from an early age on listening to so many styles of music that I realized pretty early that there is good music in every genre, you just need to find it. So it’s really hard for me to tell when I first got in touch with electronic music. I came from Punkrock, Hardcore, Ska, but I listened to hip hop really early too, and I grew up with friends in Berlin that started some of the first techno clubs and some of my friends became quite famous musicians. So I guess I have been in touch with electronic music all my life, but my passion for raves was definitely highly influenced by my first Fusion Festival and all those illegal raves a long time ago.

Q: From Berlin to the world. Where´s your favorite place to DJ?

A: There are soooo many amazing places around the world where I had the chance to play, thats always hard to tell. To name 3 places that really really mean a lot to me: Garbicz Festival, Afrika Burn, Egypt Sandbox Festival.

Q: Which releases can we expect this year? And is there maybe another tour coming up?

A: I was touring so much in the last 2 years that I didn’t have that much time for studio, hopefully this year I will spend some more time producing again. There is a track coming up in March/April on the Bar 25 compilation I did together with my Melbourne friend moodmachine, and I made a remix for my friend Sam Farsio from Dubai which will be out in the next months as well. And I am working on some new tracks, so let’s see what happens.

I’m playing 2 shows in New Caledonia end of February which I am really excited about! A US tour in summer including Oregon Eclipse Festival and Burning Man, again Egypt in May and quite a lot other stuff.
