“I don’t consider myself a DJ, though I’ve always loved the art form. Other than the very few occasions I have played records for an audience, I usually approach mixes like I would have private mixtapes back in the day: my tapes were always themed and included selections of music I was listening to, both old and new, as well as a few of my own tracks. I would often make a short track specifically for the mixtape, after I had already put most of the playlist together.
