Skymning is the stockholm based producer Erik Lagerholm. His music is created for a thoughtful crowd that are ready to form new stories based on the music he’s creating. Dvala is his first release on the swedish record label waves / longitudinalwaves.

Dvala consists of three tracks that aim to take the listener on a musical journey through soundscapes that reflect the beauty of nature, through complex thoughts about life and the echo of beating hearts.

For this one I wanted to make something soft and enveloping that puts a sort of heavy relaxed feeling onto the listener, with the clicks and subtle rhythm to carry it along. A gravity well is an area of space that is warped by a large mass, looking something like a well in 2D representations hence the the name, and an area of space where you would feel the inescapable heavy pull of gravity all over your body, which was the feeling I was trying to produce with the track - For the mass I was thinking something a bit heavier than the earth, but not so heavy as to be painful. This one has a video on the way too, following the same concept, that should be ready this week!

There's no sign of "suspect second album syndrome" on this sophomore set from Brendan "Chymera" Gregoriy's celebrated synthesizer-fired ambient project Merrin Karras. Drawing on his love of 1980s new age and ambient records, as well as a life spent fetishising over electronic hardware, Gregoriy has delivered a set of swelling, slow-burn delights that invite you to share an imaginary journey through the Northwest Passage, a legendary route from the Atlantic to the Pacific Oceans via the Arctic Circle that's only accessible at certain times of the year. While some of the music is undeniably icy, there's genuine sonic warmth too; after all, when you can traverse the passage it's light 24 hours a day. In a word: gorgeous.
