Hi, I want to install the SEGA Model 2 emulator, got the 1.1a version from the Nebula website, extracted it, and the only thing I got when launching the .exe file was a missing "d3dx9_42.dll" error. After manually getting this file online I got the, I guess, well-known error message: "0xc000007b"!


Then I extracted the emulator files on my wife's laptop (also an up-to-date windows 10 system) --- with the same results: First the DLL error (which shouldn't occur anyway, I guess??!) and then the 0xc000007b error.


Quite often downloading one dll is not the correct solution. d3dx9_42.dll is part of directx 9. If a game or emulator complains, it is better to install the complete directx setup. I hope it fixes your problem.


But one more thing. Do not expect that every emulator or game works out of the box. The more you delve into emulation, the more you will need to learn.The SEGA Model 2 emulator is 14 years old by now. It is not the easiest emulator to set up.

You could try, and I am guessing here, to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable and Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable. Else I don't know. I have the SEGA Model 2 emulator up and running for years now and I don't remember running into trouble.

Small indie teams and open source projects make emus for free, and there's a video on YouTube of a guy writing a NES emulator in C++ in less than a few hours. Why can't one make a Sega Genesis emulator?

I agree! I've seen videos for the Mega Drive overclocking mod @10mhz and it makes the "slower" arcade ports like Super Hang On actually look and play fast like the orginal coin-ops. That would be a great feature for any emulator...

What is the difference between mod type files in simple terms? There are now Alternate Textures, Custom furniture, content patcher & now I'm seeing dynamic game assets. Some of my favorite mods are offered in a few types & I'm not sure what's best to use? I know content patcher adds more items to the existing items, such as furniture to the regular vanilla inventory & Alternate Textures changes the vanilla I think? One of my older CF building mods has been redone in DGA & idk if it's necessary or advisable to delete the old & add the new type, especially since the new mod creator doesn't have the complete set. Can someone please explain if this matters & why or why not? Or should I just be using the most updated mods that are available regardless of their type?
