This recording was made on 10 September 1929 for release as an Edison lateral 78rpm recording.  Edison ceased production of recordings the following month, before this record was issued.  Two other sides were recorded at the same session, neither being released. Kohlmann was assisted by a drummer, W T Paulson, who may have also blown a bird whistle!  The masters of these recordings survive in the Edison archives.

A rather poor Octacros 78 of Pattman at the Forum.  There is no bass on the record. The treble is also dreadful, but it's better than  the other side!

The only 4/23 "Wonder Morton" to be recorded in the 78 days.  This master was intended for release by Edison as a Blue Amberol cylinder, but probably never was issued, as Edison ceased production of cylinder recordings around the time of this session in 1929. Fortunately, the master still exists in the Edison vaults

John Gart - Loew's Valencia Theatre, New York - If I Had You

Henrietta Kamern was one of only a handful of female organists world-wide who made solo theatre organ 78 rpm records.  This is an Edison vertical-cut electrical Diamond Disc recorded in 1928, and features the 3/32 Möller semi-straight/duplexed and partially unified organ which was one of a number of instruments bought in job lots of half-a-dozen or so at a time, often without the theatres to which they were to go having been decided.  Kamern was for many years an organist with Loew's, moving to their Pitkin Theatre and eventually leaving Loew's to be baseball organist for the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Among the very rarest commercially-issued acoustically recorded shellac pipe organ records, this was issued in June/July 1914 on the Pathé label. It differs in almost every respect from standard records of the time in that it has vertical-cut (hill-and-dale ) grooves, plays from the centre out, spins at 90 rpm and is of 11" size. About a dozen sides were recorded by R Goss-Custard for Pathé. I am fortunate to have four of them in my collection
