"Memory Empathy" is a meditation on the past: how it shapes us and how we shape it in turn. Over 12 tracks, New Zealand-based producer DJ Birdbath draws from a varied palette of samples, both real and unreal, conjuring a colourful narrative patchwork. Some tracks are fragmented, with gurgling rhythms built from clipped vocals, like 'Another Day'. Others resemble deconstructed versions of sounds the producer grew up listening to in the UK. Take for example the breakbeat in the euphoric album opener 'Kitsch Memory' or the shoegaze-tinged vocals on 'Flames'.

While a sense of optimism radiates throughout the album — in particular on 'Leftover Igloo', 'Being There' and 'Last Time' — it’s the weird breakages and vaguely organic sounds which add to the complexity of the release and, in turn, make it feel more truthful. The imperfect mimesis is part of the appeal: with repeated listens "Memory Empathy" yields new surprises.

‘Rejecting Fragility’ - is a recorder of emotions and experiences collected during a year of immigration to Tbilisi, a move that was initiated as a reactive decision to the unconformity towards the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine. It is about the loss of ambition and acceptance of responsibility, as well as the rejection of habitual beliefs and acceptance of fragility.

Delving into new surroundings, the mixtape acts as a postcard that envisions the technogenic bustle of Tbilisi. Similar to ‘Fashion Music for Scammers’, the release takes shape of a diary entry and attempts to record the constantly fluctuating moment of emotional fragility, where the atmosphere within the magical and serene corners of the city’s surroundings switches up rapidly with its concrete coldness, and the deep wormhole that is its nightlife. Hence the DIY, almost field-like approach to the recording of the material featured on the album. Most of the track were produced on an iPad, in which qwa created unique, autonomous ecosystems.

RAINDROGYNY 是「RAIN」跟「ADROGYNY」二字的結合變形：雨一詞源自於她的中文本名；ADROGYY 則是雌雄同體之意。於倫敦學習並開始 DJ，與倫敦場牌「Half East Records」的夥伴一起打江山。multi genres 的信仰者，部落、自然、工業與原音聲響都將在一個編排中通通收穫，破碎的同時拼貼出人人各色的感官體驗。近期逐步往噪音與實驗邁進，鍾情於敲打與搓碟，在限制之內拼貼出新的收穫，並發現原來最巔峰的躁與最極致的靜，是根本的一體兩面。

RAINDROGYNY is a fusion of the words "RAIN" and "ANDROGYNY." "Rain" comes from her Chinese given name, while "androgyny" reflects the concept of blending masculine and feminine energies. She began her DJ journey while studying in London, building her path alongside the crew at the London-based label Half East Records.
A believer in multi-genre expression, she incorporates tribal, natural, industrial, and organic sounds into her sets, crafting a sensory experience through fragmented yet intricately arranged compositions. Recently, she has been venturing further into noise and experimental realms, embracing percussive elements and turntable techniques. Within constraints, she discovers new possibilities, realizing that the peak of chaos and the essence of silence are ultimately two sides of the same coin.
