Factor City kicks off its third decade in full swing, led by Undo solo and accompanied by its usual partners Casiowaves and Vicknoise.
It all began in 2003 when Undo & Vicknoise laid the foundation for the label with "Noctámbula," and over the years, they continued to collaborate closely, managing the label and producing "hits" such as "Orca" or "Happy Monday." From 2011 onward, following an amicable parting, Undo began to run the label solo while maintaining the same spirit and distinctive sound of the Barcelona-based label, always at the forefront of dance music produced in Spain.
Now, in 2024, in a digital world where fewer and fewer things can be touched with our fingers and where 100,000 songs are uploaded to Spotify every day, Factor City is charting a different course and starts a new decade on the dance floors by returning to vinyl releases and persisting in their low key and relaxed approach, releasing few and carefully curated records from their artists each year.
“Ciudad Futura” opens with "Good Times," a track by Undo that radiates joy and positivity. A euphoric ride through landscapes of analog synthesizers and drum machines. The second track on side A is signed by Undo & Vicknoise, who hadn't produced together in 15 years. And we hope they won't take as long to get back in the studio together after hearing "Electric Rainbow." A delightful slice of electro-disco. The B side is signed by the recent combo of Undo and Casiowaves. The first track, "Secret Worlds," follows in the wake of their recent releases on Factor City and Melodize with that winning combination of retro 80s and 90s synths with vocoders and a more contemporary production. Closing out the record is "Astralia," a vibrant "power synth pop" anthem adorned with FM synths and acid-tinged melodies. Thanks for listening!

Especial continues its mission to find different takes on club music, presenting a perfect pop-dance moment, Be Honest.

Produced by long-time friends, DJ, diggers and artists Lipelis and Arsenii, their collaboration is an 80s New York inspired dream of superlative production and programming wrapped around a love-forlorn vocals from guest Gayana.

Laying down a demo one hazy Moscow summer afternoon nearly a decade ago, the original was a simple instrumental boogie jam recorded live to a 4-track tape recorder.

Soft keys, melancholic melody, Paul Simpson “Easy Street” dub bassline, tight drums and hats all bore the hallmarks of Lipelis. Dusting down old drives in a new studio during lockdown and bringing this gift back to life, Leonid sent a rough mix to vocalist Gayana.

Having produced a remix for her that ended up a big DJ Harvey play – a standout on his Sound Of Mercury Rising (Volume II) compilation – she was the perfect choice to bring the jam to life.

Gayana’s heartfelt lyrics, a timely and pertinent call for truth and compassion, the electro-jam morphed into a beautiful song. Realising they had something unique, Lipelis crafted first a live mix desk dub and instrumental to follow an analogue path.

Guided by a desire to present the music as the full package it warrants, a video was specially produced and released in summer 2020. Here, Especial appears, a long-standing friendship with Leo led to the idea to craft a vinyl release was conceived.

Now based in Belgrade and New York, Lipelis and Arsenii produce their own remixes respectively. The 12” Dance mix offering from Lipelis gives the DJ world that nigh perfect (breaks’n’vox) Summer of Love anthem to move you from sunset to sunrise, festival to basement, while Arsenii’s Dubplate VIP is a stunning drum and bass version that nods to the smooth (“intelligent”) period of Bukem and Reese with aplomb, bringing finally, this wonderful song to the world.

Brooklyn's Let's Play House keeps building momentum with its second release of 2012. This time, label heads Jacques Renault, Nik Mercer, and James Friedman have teamed up with a pair of artists shrouded in mystery—the Dead Rose Music Company—to put out an EP featuring four songs that confound definition... 


The Four Songs EP is a collection of tracks that aim to be cinematic in their production approach: these are epic mixes meant to stand the test of time, fueled by huge drops, warm, syrupy bass lines, and ear-tickling effects. While the four songs are technically edits, Dead Rose have left their inimitable fingerprints all over them. Each tune has the air and ambiance of a groove you got into at a party, but can't remember fully the morning after; they're visceral and almost dreamy, like the jumbled recollections of last night's disco fading in and out of strobe-lit smoke on the dancefloor.

Musically and emotionally, Superpitcher’s third full-length studio album, The Golden Ravedays is a one sound autobiography that exhibits the skill, feeling and style that the artist has honed over a period of twenty years, musically, and forty-plus- years, emotionally. And full-length it is: The Golden Ravedays is an epic album of 24 longer than usual tracks that was released in January 2017 and is stretching over 12 respective chapter albums during a one-year period.

The 12th and final edition of The Golden Ravedays album will be released on record label Hippie Dance in December 2017.

Side A is the ballad of Late Night Skanking. True to the soul of skanking this track is weaving its delicate elements between the rise and fall of a monumental wave that teasingly never breaks. The main melody so seduces and hypnotizes that before you know it you’re a wide-eyed cobra waving away in a basket.

Standing ovation! Hands in the air! He made it! The very last track of Superpitcher’s epic Golden Ravedays odyssey is a jovial spree, a hullabaloo of merrymaking, the perfect celebration of the beginning to end of this heroic album. Punky Reggae Party is a fantastic collision of festive sounds, beats and voices that bring us undecipherable messages and everything else that is far beyond nice, nice, nice. Encore! Encore!

Now 2 years later (July 2015) we're at 23 releases from a range of artists and remixers, with one release scheduled each month.


Duncan Gray (biog) : Perhaps best known as one half of the Sons of Slough along with Ian Weatherall - see discogs entry for details of releases. The Sons were a formidable Live act (see You tube) playing regularly across the UK. DG's own releases also gained some popularity, starting with cuts for Scatological (1996) Blue Black, Whole9Yards, SaltHill, through to Aquamelon (2009). Since returning to music production in 2013 he has released tracks on NEIN, Eskimo, Blindetonation, Play Pal, Rock to The Beat, plus Andrew Weatherall's vinyl only Birdscarer label. He has played guitar on half a dozen AW remixes.

Yes, I do want to hear new tracks. I am always interested in music which features REAL INSTRUMENTS - or electronic originality. I'm getting fussy these days...please email files to the email address above. (don't just send a soundcloud link please) If you don't know what the sound of this label is like, don't bother sending me stuff. I get quite a few demos with a note saying "I love the sound of your label" from producers who have clearly never listened to any of our releases.

PLEASE NOTE : 2020 release schedule now full, but I can always make room for something spectacular, or a really cool remix...

I cant make the music but I’ll definitely find it for us.
