Arcana is about honoring and investigating the mysteries that connect a moment to a day, to a year, to a century, to an eternity.

I have compiled moments from short films that I have composed music for over the last few years and given them a home in this first volume of instrumental music. 

There are no moments in our lives that fall outside of what connects us to each other. Every lie we tell is a lie we have all told. Every horse we ride is an act of courage we all have known. Every star in the sky is another dream staring back at us. 

We don't have to look far to find Arcana.

This is music composed for the London theatrical production of "Mountains of Madness".

Bardo premiered at the Shaking the Tree Theatre on February 27th of 2020 and ended its initial run on March 7th. 

Bardo is a staged dance piece choreographed and performed by artist Lyra Butler-Denman. The original score was arranged and produced by Ahmond.

Bardo arrives at its title via the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. In that tradition, bardo is a transition, and is commonly used to describe the intermediate state between death and rebirth. This work uses bardo as a guiding principle with respect and deep gratitude to the culture to whom it belongs. This work would not exist without it.

The narrative of Bardo deals with the grief surrounding death and creates a ritual for exploring and gaining new insight into death. 

It was decided early on in the project that the arrangements would all be tuned to 432 Hz (as opposed to the current standard 440 Hz) to correspond with the frequency that Tibetan monks use for singing bowls. Each musical piece on the soundtrack is followed by a singing bowl ritual playing the notes of the seven chakras to herald the opening of a new awareness and understanding. 

As we move through the transitions from the root to the crown, the music takes the listener on a journey that is both beatific and terrifying. 

This score invites the listener to discover themselves in the ritual, and to create a personal ritual for their own transitions as they move forward in life...and in death.

The Magician is tuned to 432Hz instead of the standard 440Hz. 

The instrumental music was written to underscore the short film "Limbs Seeds" by multimedia artist Jason Jenn, and the title of the composition derives from the major arcana tarot card of the same name. 

In 2018, Ahmond began naming unreleased instrumental pieces after the 22 trump cards in a standard tarot deck with the intention of eventually releasing them together as an album titled Arcana.This is the first piece from this collection to have an official release to the public. 

The Magician is the number 1 card in the Tarot which represents beginnings, transformation, and will. Much like a newborn child, The Magician exists in the world that stands between the spirit and the physical.

The Magician

Composer/Producer/Singer-Songwriter/Sound Designer specializing in composing orchestral strings and ambient synth textures and electronic beats for films/video.

Ahmond first began his career in music by writing songs for a theater company in Atlanta. After graduating from Georgia State University with a degree in music, he has performed, recorded, and produced music for nearly 20 years in cities such as London, Los Angeles, Berlin, and New York. 

Some highlights in his journey include scoring music for the HBO documentary Making Rome and creating eerie orchestral music for the London H.P. Lovecraft Festival. Additionally, his music has been placed on commercials and television shows such as E! News Live, Lufthansa Airlines, Hot 20 Countdown, I Am Dale Earnhardt, UFC: Road To The Octagon, The Sisterhood, Geordie Shore, and Brasil Visto De Cima.

Ahmond currently assists other music artists, filmmakers, and creators with their projects while continuing to record and release his solo material.
