@brettoh111 interesting mix this was. amongst my mixes, there is the first Sundissential promo mix I did for them which was at 158 as I was asked to keep back the BPMs, so when I made this one, I condensed a lot of the same tracks down (had to drop some as it had to be a shorter mix), but I deliberately pushed the BPMs back up. it was my way of saying THIS is now I would have played those tracks... fast forward, I actually got booked for Sundissential after the promo mix, and when I did the gig, I did it my way, playing 170 throughout, and that's what made that 2hr debut mix rerecording. I stood by my guns and did my style when I played for them, and it worked, because I got rebooked for Sundsiss again... sticking to my guns and my style has become very important to me.

as you know I don’t play/perform myself however my 20+ yr best mate/favourite DJ of all time went through the exact same thing essentially…so I can most certainly relate and know EXACTLY what you mean! Only conformists conform!! Imagine if you hit the pillow and listened to “the man” or what they told you  to play/not play and put training wheels on the bpm…like the other night when we were having a chin wag….130 something bpm you said it started with up until 45ish mins..same shit with the 150ish they told you…i was about to literally not listen to any more sets due to it being that low…same shit goes for you and them if ya know what I mean?
