Redscape is the collaborative efforts of MOTSA and FUNCTIONIST, a pair who are making big shapes in their hometown and further afield of late, while MOTSA’s singles on Jhruza, Bird Kids and Schoenbrunner Perlen have put him on the map, FUNCTIONIST has found fame in spinning Soul, House, Hip-Hop and Funk on his infamous FM4 radio show, both artists are regarded to be driving forces in the Austrian music scene.

The release kicks off with title track ‘Funky Feeling’, a bumpy house number, driven by straight 4/4 drums, sweeping synth lines and a low-pitched vocal licks uttering the title. The duo introduce a gritty saw-wave bass hook to up the energy of the record, while elongated bass drones and subtle nuances in the melodic elements add character and intrigue to the feel of the cut.

Then to close the single Redscape offer up ‘It’s Over’, taking things deeper this time with ethereal pads and soulful vocal licks, while 90’s hip-hop infused Moog licks, retro brass stabs and jazzy percussion add a unique charm to things. Creating a classy, disco-inflected house track.
